I am having the hardest time keeping my submission file clear and crisp after I make it the dimensions that are required. The 640px. I am using Photoshop to upload my image onto the Threadless model template. Once it is one and clear and in place I then am resizing it to the 640px. Right after doing so it shrinks the image drastically and becomes out of focus. I am puzzled and don't know what I am doing wrong. Any help would be AWESOME!!!

I am so excited to upload designs but I am getting very discouraged.

Well I worked on it a bit last night and just sent it in as is. I still feel like my image is not as clear as I would like it but maybe it's just me. Someone told me that I should save it as a PNG file which made it a bit clearer. It's pending approval now so I hope it goes through! :)

Here's the link!

So let me send over to this blog where the same issue was addressed.
Basically: show the design as close-up as possible!
Looks nice btw =)

Also, png is good for graphics with few colors, not really suited for photographs (but not bad either).
Use jpeg. In PS, when 'saving as' jpeg for the presentation file, you can choose the quality vs compression setting, and there is a preview (of compression loss) and estimate of final filesize (optimistic). I find that a setting of 8 keeps me around 200k with good enough quality.
I also add some sharpening filter (only on the the presentation file, not the hi-res design!!!), with settings around 60-1-0.
