![]() I'm a huge fan of t-shirt design, so naturally I love this site. Unfortunately I just never found the time to register and submit any designs... until this past long weekend! Upon visiting this site, I discovered that Threadless teamed up with Havaianas for this amazing design challenge. A t-shirt and flip-flops design challenge - what a brilliant combination! So, I enter my first two Threadless design submissions! This first submission was based on the amazing Flying Monkeys suits from the Wizard of Oz! I imagine that the Tin man, Scarecrow, Lion and Dorothy probably weren't too pleased to see the Flying Monkey (ha ha, in this case you) so their facial expressions were illustrated accordingly... ![]() That's when I noticed that the flip-flops' straps were obscuring my characters. That didn't make too much sense. So for my second submission, I created a design specifically with the straps... Call it "face perception", call it pareidolia, call it what you will - I find faces in inanimate objects. The great Carl Sagan said that human beings are hard-wired from birth to identify the human face as a survival technique. I call it fun! After finding two faces staring back at me, I started to think about what themes would work well with Havaianas, a manufacture of truly the best rubber sandals in the world? What type of person would you like to see on a hot sandy beach and the cool ocean breeze gently surrounding you? Ice-cream man? Hot-dog vendor? Or perhaps a couple beautiful sun-shine girls? It was a natural fit - the design practically finished by itself! ![]() Please note, I'd like to print girls of all different colors as shown below. I'm still very new to this Threadless submission guidelines and had originally thought there was a maximum 8 color limit. ![]() Due to popular request, here are some belt-print variations of "Sunshine Girls" below. ![]() There is just something about see faces on inanimate objects that makes me smile. Hopefully these designs will make you smile too! Thanks for taking the time to read all of this!
