Why does this shirt feature a "45 MPH" traffic sign? Maybe I'm just a speed demon or something, but I would love it the shirt featured a "65 MPH" sign, at least. 45 MPH might as well be a "20 MPH SCHOOL ZONE" sign. ;)

would that be an african swallow?

the correct answer, pinkelephant, would've been african or european swallow... then you'd earn cool points, too

Psh, whatever. I was just happy there was a Holy Grail reference.

Squeege wins the cool points then.

Believe me when I say that I myself am also a 55 , 65 or even...ahem...85 mph person. The reason I did it with 45 instead of those other much cooler speed limits is because the actual sign that inspired this design was a 45er. In our small farm town, 55 and 65 mph signs are quite rare, which explains why I know all the cops on a first name basis. Plus, the birds and the vine seem more commonplace on a country type road, and they rarely go over 45.

Did anyone think it could be because the vines would have a much harder time climbing the sign if it were 65 mph?

Because 4 + 5 = 9

4 * 5 = 20

And 4 / 5 = 0.8

if I had 4/5ths of a tank of gas left, it would be 80%

Read the story about it in his submission thread. It explains that the sign is just based on a picture he took, and im sure the sign read "45 MPH".

Mystery solved. :]

45 used to be the speed, which is why i love this shirt. if you find an old highway, you'll see these signs.

45 = 50 = 52 = 54.. and suddenly i'm 9 miles over the speed limit without realising it. happen to anyone else?
