In an episode of Futurama, Fry and Lela go to a movie that uses 3-D glasses and Fry says "the 3-d is awesome" or something along those lines, then it pans to Lela saying "mine isn't working" while moving each color over her eye. Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw this design.
