so we went and saw the Dark Knight this afternoon.

looooooong (seriously who decied movies all have to be +2hrs??? fuck give me 90 minutes of reasonably entertaining stuff and let me get on w/ my day.

I've certainly seen worse movies ... but the hype surrounding this seems way out of proportion to the actual movie itself.

I realize that one dude died and all but still it doesn't make this that great of a movie.

if it hadn't have drug on so god damn long I'd give it a b- but I'm knocking it a full letter grade for the lack of ability to edit shit down to a reasonable run time.

oh well I suppose after Ironman I would have known the hype was going to be overblown....meh...

I would think you would appreciate that during the bank robbery he was using a full auto pistol (was it a Glock G18 with a stainless steel slide?) even if only for a minute.

I'm so bored after an 1 1/2 -2hrs (max) I can't even pay attention anymore.

I damn near fell asleep during this movie... the pacing was terrible.

i'm not a comic book guy, i never was into batman, and i thought dark knight was very good. i'm not even a big fan of bale as batman. i thought there was no way heath ledger's performance would live up to the hype, but it did.

i think the fact you have a problem with the length of the movie makes me not really take your criticism seriously.

I'm not really into superheroes at all and i loved both Ironman and The Dark Knight. Sometimes hype is worth it, and then sometimes some people have the need to go against the hype because it's something to do that's different (the joker would be proud, man!). Dunno man, there isn't much to argue with in your opinion of the movie other than you think it's too long and people said it was too good. I disdagree with both those statements.

well I suppose that is a way to look at it... I just think it is wasting my time making a story that could easily be told in under 2hrs nearly 3hrs long.

but then again I have other stuff to do... I don't especially need a movie to take me outta my other stuff for the maximum time humanly possible.

hmmm FA... perhaps my own contrarian tendencies have been oversold on teh old threadless blogs... I do certainly have a tendency to take a position out of the collective group think (or lack there of ??) of the body threadless... but by in large i just honestly was somewhat let down given the hype about this movie and was quite honestly bored thru more than a bit of it....

i.e. I am not saying it was "meh" simply to be contrary ...although i "might" if i had loved the movie say..and was in teh right mood....but I didn't.

It was a great movie, except for Christian Bale. I can't remember a single scene where he did anything interesting, that didn't involve special effects. Well, listening to his deep, monotone bat-voice was pretty funny at least. Heath Ledger definitely deserves an Oscar nom though.

I really liked it. I never really thought Heath Ledger was that great of an actor, but he really knocked it out of the park and gave 120% effort and another sports themed compliment.

However there is always room for improvement.

It needed more:

Gadgets

Batpod

Well shot scenes of Batman breaking goons

Scenes that don't obviously look like Chicago

I thought the batcycle scene more than made up for any "lack" the rest of the movie. Gadgets, how about the frigging human magnet light-up toy? lol. I was in awe of the batcycle flipping the eighteen wheeler somesault style like a wounded AT-AT cable take-down, so that sold me for gadgets and awesomeness.

I didn't have a problem with Bale, except that his voice for batman is really atrocious. It sounds like someone who is trying to fake laryngitus to get out of going to work.

Maddingo, yeah, i think sometimes you have taken the other stance tand that's sometimes good! lol. I'm sorry the film didn't meet your requirements for an amazing movie, but cutting this down to 90 minutes would leave it an ungodly mess.

Not enough terrorist smashing and having The Dude suddenly turn bad guy villian man was stupid and non justified enough.

yeah yeah joker..blah blah blah... but I just don't think a sociopath is all that difficult of a role.... i.e. there is not much depth or complexity to just being a consciousless monster

pretty much every movie with a sociopath character everyone is... OMG BRIIIIIILLL OSCAR WOOT WOOT!

I personally find a character that has a conscious but is evil anyways more compelling... say like a mobster character...or say a warlord .. or what have you.

Yeah the Bat Rasp is probably the worst part of the new reboot.

I remember when he did it for the first time in Batman Begins and I just started giggling in the Theater but I eventually got over myself.

Something that is quite awesome is Chris Nolan's stance against CGI-ing everything and instead using real explosions.
