Dustin ‘dust9’ Guinee, is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator currently from Los Angeles. Growing up in Sacramento CA, Dust9 was an avid painter and illustrator from the young age of nine. From charcoal, to pastels, watercolor, oils and acrylics, dust9 experimented with a wide variety of mediums. In high school, he won many awards including 5 first place awards and 2 Best of Class awards in the California State Fair from 1998-1999. Excited by his success in high school, Dust9 went on to the California College of the Arts in the year 2000, where he soon realized his earlier accolades didn’t mean squat and that computers were taking over the art world;( Getting into CCA for Illustration, Dust9 switched to the graphic design program because he didn’t want to be a starving artist when he graduated. Well dust9 loved graphic design and even found ways to integrate his illustration styles into his design. “Gee Goly this is great,” thought Dust9, as he graduated in 2004, “I’m ready to take the art and design world by storm!!!” Well, 6 years after graduation, Dust9 the graphic designer, is still a starving artist, trying to get some steak with those potatoes and working as a contracting corporate zombie. His only salvation besides his friends and family, is his never-ending pursuit to make the dopest, most freshest, most awesomess, kick ass shirt ever and get it printed by threadless. And if the threadless thing doesn’t work out, Dust9 will cut off his ear, give it to a girl, get horrible rejected and spend the rest of his days living under a bridge, downtown, talking to himself, later writing an award winning novel titled, “A One Eared Man Living Under A Bridge”, in which he will make millions and retire to Maui.
