Just wondering, but what's the overall feeling you get when you've found out that you've won? I can imagine it's pretty good, but I'd love an expanded description from the real deal.

The reason I'm asking is because my stomach shifted uneasily this morning when I opened my cupboard. Not because I keep dead bodies in there or anything, but because I was confronted with my small collection of shirts. And then I thought about a handful of people each week staring at their computer screens at some kind of large message saying "HULLO! YOU WON etc!" (actually, how are the winners notified? And is it with much flair and magic flash?)

Anyway. How's it feel? :P

When my Odd But Cute design won, it was seriously back in the day. Threadless was a rather much smaller operation, but it was still a great site and it had a real feeling of family on the forums. There was a very close knot of people who where very very into Threadless, who submitted constantly and commented on everything, etc. It felt good to be in that group.

When I got printed, the notification came very soon after my design ended scoring. Noadays, it takes longer just because of the biggness of the operation I imagine. When I got was a fun little email that said solely Congrats! Your design Odd But Cute has been selected to be printed! Please snd us the high-res blah dee blah blah.,...

I literatlly jumped out of my chair when I read the message and did a little dance. I was a sophomore in college at the time, I think (I'm in grad school now) and I was so stressed over everything that it felt so good to have some validation for my work. I fell into a tumultuous love affair with Threadless that day. I constantly feel honored to be a part of this place.

When I sent them the high res and such, and got my prize (much less than what is currently offered, of course, Threadless has done well for itself!) I was ecstatic. I had, at that point, never one a design competition of any sort. It felt wonderful to be chosen. I was happy for a week, at least, about it.

I had a dream I won a couple weeks ago. It felt great. And then suddenly there was a shirt that was $1000 and I bought it with the prize but when the package came in the mail it was empty except for the stickers. Ummm, yeah.

So, no, I really don't have a clue.
