theyre from the miyazaki anime masterpiece Spirited Away (or Princess Mononoke, it slips my mind at the moment).

I believe it's Spirited Away. He's the thing that comes in to the bath-house and tricks the frog with gold.

(I remember very little about this movie because my niece decided half-way through to start vomiting a mostly-clear liquid all over my sister in law. Three times. And then we went to the hospital to find out why. So most of the movie is vague in my head...)

the movie is pretty nice

things are kinda loosely connected (just like mostof the later work of miyazaki)

but it's surely a pleasure to watch

Long after the fact, here's what Kaonashi means:



"No face" (or "Faceless", if you like)



I love Miyazaki films too, by the way. My personal favorites are Castle of Caliostro, Nausicaä, Totoro and Spirited Away. The only reason there aren't more faves is that some of them I've only seen once, so they could very well be faves-in-waiting.



I don't know if this shirt was inspired by the Kaonashi (which seems to have been inspired by Noh masks, but I could be wrong), but it's a great design and I'm anxiously awaiting a reprint on another color shirt (PLEASE NOT RED! I don't wear red well).

good to know i'm not the only person who immediately thought of Spirited Away when looking at this. haha
