I know you all are pretty smart cookies and always helpful, so here's my problem: I'm applying for a government job for the first time and I'm finding that there are a lot of hoops to jump through. Not the usual send in the resume and portfolio samples, I actually have to answer essay questions! Here's the one I need help with:

--Knowledge of typesetting methods, pre-press production, printing, and print-related procedures (SELECTIVE FACTOR)

Does it seem like they want me to go through ALL methods of typesetting, like woodblock, metal type, linotype, etc. etc.? Because I was just going to say how Quark is the best at setting large amounts of type for various reasons, and then answer the rest of the question.

Help!

Allo! I'm always surprised to see when people say they're from MD... and I just noticed a few people who mentioned that they're from here.... Aren't there lots of mean people driving around in MD? Sometimes I think it really sucks here, and sometimes I think it's pretty cool... other times I'm ambivalent.

(I know there are other companies that make tablets besides Wacom but don't know the names.)I just got one for x-mas, and I guess it takes awhile to get used to. I'm pretty good at drawing the old-fashioned way.

Anyone have any tips for me? Also was wondering what method people prefer for making illustrations--scanning drawings, tracing clip art or similar, or completely freehand drawing, or using a tablet?
