  • To me, the unfortunate truth is that not having shoes signifies so much more to these children than the physical pains and discomfort we can see. It shows how much of a gap they have to overcome the decades of aggressive global capitalization crusade happily orchestrated us, the towering and mighty developed west.

    But in rare occasions it's also western organizations like Toms that give them (and us) hope. And by working together one shoe at a time may all of us be free to fly in a future we can be proud of.
