ofthecoast
ofthecoast on Sep 14 '06 at 11:29pm
life-y.

All I do is go to work and go to school.

And eat.

How about yours?

my life? hectic. i spend all week tromping around a very spread-out campus, going from class to class and studying in between and then i go to work from morning til night on the weekend and my one joy in life is to buy a cool t-shirt every once in a while and they take that away. it's just so depressing.

I read a whole book last night.

It wasn't very good.

I started it at midnight and finished it at 4.

Malcolm Man on Sep 14 '06 at 11:33pm
What the hell?! That's amazing! I've never tried that. What did you read?
Malcolm Man
Malcolm Man on Sep 14 '06 at 11:33pm
Got to give me the page count as well.
ofthecoast
ofthecoast on Sep 14 '06 at 11:35pm
It was a chick flick in book form. It was a really light read called "something blue" it was 356 pages.

I read the 5th Harry Potter in under 18 hours, though.

I am weird. I can't put a book down once I start reading it.

Wow. Impressive. for me, it all depends if I'm interested in it or not. If I really like it, I'll finish it in a week. If I don't, I might trudge through it for a month.
ofthecoast
ofthecoast on Sep 14 '06 at 11:39pm
Yeah. I bought catch 22 at the end of April and I STILL haven't finished it.

That's how bad that book is. If I liked it, it would have taken me a maximum of 2 days. I even brought it on a 10 hour flight to germany and I still couldn't finish it.

I've given up on that one, though. Life is too short to read crappy novels.

Indeed. I just finished Invitation to a beheading. It was alright, it lived by my bed for about two months. Kinda bleh.
ofthecoast
ofthecoast on Sep 14 '06 at 11:43pm
bleh books are the worst. Books are supposed to be EXCITING.

I recently read The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. That was pretty okay. Nothing life changing, though.

The last book I really enjoyed was Torture The Artist. That was a great book imho.

I can't remember the last really great book I read.

My love of books was tainted for a long time by stupid english classes and books like My Name is Asher Lev and Metamorphosis.

yuck.

I borrowed In the Comfort of Strangers from my friend to read next.

...but I lost it. I don't know how, though.

I guess i'll just have to read my textbooks for a while.

If you're looking for an amazing 1910-1930 Mystery Detective Murder series, pick up any of the Nero Wolfe books by Rex Stout.
Malcolm Man

Hmmmm...Will do Nodus. Thanks.
ofthecoast

better return them before you are in the hole $200 like I was.

I don't mind when I am keen, because I'm not annoying about it. I mind when other people are keen.

I wish I could tape record my class for you so you could see what I mean. I may punch someone out in my lecture tomorrow out of frustration/keener overload

That would be pretty amazing. I'm sure it would go down in school history. Better bring your brass knuckles.

All about me

Q: If every band ever got into a massive knife fight, who would win?

A: that would be a large knife fight. well, you say "ever" so i guess that includes bands that are no longer together. ok, here's the scenario:

the smiths stabbed joy division in the leg, but they're still swinging and the pillows are missing some teeth from where eastern youth whacked 'em one. the talking heads and the buzzcocks are strangling each other and the descendents are laying on the ground in a pool of their own vomit with their eyeball hanging out of it's socket laughing at the whole scene.

i like to doodle. all the time. okay, not ALL the time. i find it most satisfying to doodle when i am actually supposed to be doing something else. like studying. or working. or having sex.

i doodle with pen and paper or my mouse and MSpaint. i draw on sidewalks with chalk, walls with sharpie, desks with pencil, dirty car windows with my fingers. nothing can stop me!

other than doodling, i also enjoy the ocassional rocking out in my car at night with the windows rolled down and the BASS turned up, drinking alcohol with friends until the wee hours, buying/stealing, owning and wearing a lot of clothing and making things with my hands.

i aspire to one day become a zombie.
