something i've been working on:

tweaks, suggestions, comments, telling me to scrap it since the concept sucks...all are welcome.

Lately it seems like a bunch of my submissions are getting rejected, most recently this:

http://www.duke.edu/~naf2/misc/multi-meme-death-match.gif'

Ok, so the possible reasons are:
- Poor design
- Improperly sized thumbnails and designs
- The design has too many colors
- The design has a gradient or halftones
- Submission did not use the templates
- Inappropriate material within the design
- The design is too large to print
- The design contains copyrighted material

In the submitted version used the templates, 4 colors, no gradients, the right size gifs, and it wasn't too large on the shirt. Copyrighted Material? Not unless the jack rackham pirate flag is copyrighted. Inappropriate material: I don't think any of this is really inappropriate ('fight to the death' maybe?)

this leaves poor design I guess. Is this really that bad? Maybe I'm just too close to this to judge it fairly, but it doesn't seem so bad that it's not even worth voting on. I'd appreciate any insight anyone has.

So I submitted a few designs a little over a week ago and they went through the approval process today I guess. One of them was approved no problem and I got the two emails saying approved and with links for promotion. The other design produced more confusing results: I got 3 emails at the same time, the first two were design approved and promotion links emails, but the third was a rejected email for the same design (WTF?) by reason of template. Considering I used the same threadless template for both submissions and I went back to check and both gifs have the same attributes (and it previewed just fine) I am completely confused.

Anyone else ever experienced something like this? I guess the only thing I can do is resubmit all over again and wait the week for approval?

After submitting my 'sharks on a train would've been twice as deadly' slogan, I wanted to see if I was the first person to think of such a concept. Turns out that's a no. Lots of riffs out there on the snakes on a plane concept, usually proposed as potential sequels or parts of a trilogy.

Some I ran into:
tigers on a boat
spiders on a bus
and
sharks on a train

I think the last one is the best and it seems to be one of the more prevalent(20 or so google results) (what with rhyming and the same starting letter as well as rediculousness factor). It's even a registered domain, though i just get 'problem loading page' when I try to go there.

Great minds think alike.

So, if I make a design and get a bunch of comments/suggestions of stuff to change, then i change it, is it legitimate to put it up for voting again, or does the fact that the concept is the same preclude that from being a valid outlet?

Best Ever quotes about my amazazing work (the first one is my all time favorite):

-Um, yeah. That's not funny. That really happened. Someone's child was EATEN. It was horrid enough that someone made some sort of a sick joke to laugh in the face of mourning parents, but hey "Lets make a shirt to commemorate the whole bloody thing again!"

-Technically a Plesiosaurus could not bend its neck that way.

-No one would wear that......I think.

-That's (a) terrible (idea).

-It looks like a super generic shirt you can find being sold in the parking lot of a Shriner's club.

-What the hell?

-boo

-banksy ripoff?

-This is traced. Poorly.

-is there any possible way to give this LESS than 0?

-i don't really like this at all. but that's just me.

-Cowboys are just plain bad.

-clay aiken

-its been done before, and its been done a lot better

-if you couldnt make the temple of doom shirt work, you should have just stopped. sorry, but this is terrible....the rest of your is much better

-To Kiddish looking.

-Terrible

-a little too easy.

-I hereby join the podium-hating club. It makes it look like they're standing in front of a rectangular tree.

-the idea is nice, but the illustration is... not so nice.

-i just don't really like it..

-the y coordinate of the graph is not labeled, making it meaningless

-dork shirt

-this tries too hard to be clever...

-Politics don't belong on threadless.

----------------------------------------

hot damn, i'm a winner.

at least no one can talk trash about my slogans.
