I was just curious as to how long everyone spends on their designs? I realize it varies, but what would you say the average amount of time spent is?
I get the feeling that I am spending way too much time, myself. I'm slightly embarrassed to even admit how much time I spend but it's well over 5 hours per design on average and for a few its been double that.
I dont sketch out anything first, I just do all the work in illustrator then export it to flash. It seems counterproductive to me to sketch something out first and then trace it in illustrator, but I'm guessing it's a lot quicker that way.

some designs i take like 10 minutes the most!! but like my current submission that took some time, probably a couple of hours throughout the week, i dont want to spend to much time on my submissions because when i dont get a very good score i feel bad. i have had some submissions that i put effort in and they end up being duds.

3 to 8 usually...I spent the most on my Mythical Marriage sub..something like 10 to 14.

I work slowly and I'm a perfectionist....heh

I spend way too long doing them, but every shirt I make is different from the next. I don't really "do" 2 shirts the same way. So let's see here... several days? I guess I don't keep track of hours.

First I do plenty of research on my design subject(s), wouldn't want to spend hours on something and have it be incorrect in some way. Also I try to put some effort in and make sure nothing quite like has been done here before, which can sometimes be pretty difficult. But then I get to work and take a couple hours on it here and there for a couple or few days until it's done.

My "Urban Legend" design is the only one I've been able to finish from beginning to end in one day.

Not long enough.

An hour for the first 95% (from initial idea to drawing to coloring to almost finished), another hour for the last 5% (color tweaking). It's basically an extended lunch break.

Depends on the amount of details. I'd say 10-48 hours.

Well, some of my subs took shorter time.

It really depends on how much detail I want put on my work...and how motivated I am. Some things take 10 minutes to do, while others take 8 hours.

my designs usually take about a half an hour to draw and then another 2-3 hours to tweak.
