Webdesign fees---how much do you usually charge?
Someone asked me to design, set up and maintain a small online store for him, but I'm not quite sure how much I should charge him for it. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? How much should I charge him?

I don't know but didn't you get your design ripped off? What's the whole story with that? That really sucks but at least it was caught!

Give him an estimate for the design of the site based on how many days it will take to design and build then charge him by the hour for any maintanance or changes he might need.

I usually charge $30 an hour or depending on the size of the project I estimate how many hours it will take and multiply it by my hourly rate, I've done sites from $600 to $2,500, I don't plan on doing it full time thou, it's hard to pay the bills on it and you have to be REALLY good, wich I'm not :)

It really depends on the kind of site you're designing. Definately charge more for any and all Flash work... figure in the size of the site (number of pages, programming needed, etc..)



ALWAYS give your client an estimate that is probably OVER what the actual cost will be. NEVER make an estimate, then go over it. Really bad way to do business.



Like techwarman... anywhere for me from 400 - 2000 (never made one for over 1k yet though)
