Ugh, plane tickets are a bitch and a half.

grr i know its not like im his wife or anything it's not like he has to clear big purchases with me before he makes them and so far my schedule has been a lot more flexible than his so it's easier for me to find time to visit than for him to find time to visit me but still!

i ate fucking ramen and paid for the majority of my meals during my trip...I know he's working hard and it's much more expensive to live up there and made the effort to go dutch as much as possible, especially since he just had to go home suddenly for his aunts funeral right before my trip and had spent money on that and lost money from days off work, so i tried to keep things minimal but still fun - his two days off we spent the entire days inside doing nothing but lounging! (not arguing, it was cold and i love snuggling)

i am not the kind of girl that expects everything to be paid for and given to her but it would be nice to feel like both of us were contributing equally. i know it's not cheap to entertain me while i'm there but i feel like a little entertaining is allowed since im the one forking over $250+ just to be there, i tried to pay for as much as possible when he visited

i did bring that up....it will be nice to have a laptop instead of just an imac since he shares a bedroom and essentially has no privacy...but whatever

i am not ungrateful. andy does lots of sweet things for me and i know that he cares about me but im tired of doing all the work in terms of making the distance work. i want to be chased for a while dammit.

andy is not a douche bag at all....but his decision was still very frustrating

he even said himself it was an impulsive decision and probably not the most responsible but i didnt want to bitch him out over fbook chat so i tried to act like i was interested instead of full of rage but i still need to bring up money bc its been an issue ive been avoiding for a while

i said from the very beginning i didnt want to be the one buying all the tickets and wanted us to go back and forth paying for tickets...and it just hasnt happened due to various circumstances

and im trying to judge how much my own financial instability at the moment is affecting my judgement of his decision

i got stuck in new york for almost double the amount of time i intended to stay due to weather and as a result spent about double the amount of money i had budgeted for my trip...now im ridiculously strapped for cash, more so than i planned and completely unemployed and since i graduated, cut off from my parents...im living with my sister and shes already been kind enough not to charge me rent for january but i hate mooching...i know this is just a temporary situation and i'll have some sort of job soon enough whether it's related to my degree or at a mall...so im trying not to let that factor influence my judgement since it's only temporary but...it's still having an influence....

and just yeah...long distance relationships are hard...being an adult is hard, i found my first gray hair yesterday!

but macbook airs are COOL. and flying in planes SOUNDS cool, but it really isn't when you aren't sitting in the cockpit.

ive calmed down now but i'm still annoyed...how do i bring up that it upset me that he made such a big purchase, one that could affect future visits, and that i found it inconsiderate since i've invested so much in us being able to see each other without guilt tripping him about making a purchase for himself?

he's been stressed and busy and working hard and he's finally started writing again, which is great because it's one of his gifts and he's been neglecting it...and i understand that sometimes people just need to do nice things for themselves, to boost their spirits and such.

how do i validate and acknowledge his feelings without ignoring my own?

it's definitely a bit selfish. maybe you can punish him by refusing to cover the cost of visits for a while and make him regret it. and don't be all "but that means i don't get to see him either". tough. sometimes it's hard teaching someone a lesson.
that or dump him for not caring enough about you. he sounds expensive and not very rewarding.

I think you should just tell him exactly what you just posted. He should understand where you're coming from. It's a tough situation, and I'm sure he didn't have any bad intentions.

oh wait guys...no worries, crisis averted...He switched it out to get a 13" macbook pro instead...much better for editing...

ugh ive got cookies in the oven and cold beer...time to watch office space with my sister.
