  • I really like this concept, and the illo and colors are great!

However, had I not read the title first, I don't know that I would have immediately thought "ice cream." I'd agree with Hyperworm about the texture of the cone... it feels a little too plastic or even porcelain. Finding a good texture for the cone will provide some awesome contrast to your smooth octopus and really help to sell the concept. Also, the octopus is wrapped around the cone so much (which, incidentally, gives the image some nice depth and dimensionality) that you almost lose it. Check out the ratio of creamy goodness to waffle-y crunch. I wonder what that cephalopod would look like with some chocolate syrup and a cherry on top?

It's lookin' great! Hope that helps!

  • I love this! The raven design is really unique and appealing, and I like the placement.

I feel like the moon and stars aren't really meshing with that strong style/design though. Glow effects are always a bit of a challenge to pull off, and it seems out of place alongside the clean, graphic qualities of the raven. I would think about stylizing the moon and stars to better match the design of the bird. Use the craters as opportunities to create interesting shapes that mirror the bird's back and wings maybe? I think the reflection in his eye is cool, but I would maybe shrink it down so that it's not touching the blue outline of his eye. Watch out for those kinds of tangents throughout the design.

Again, I love your work and the use of space! Good luck... hope this helps!

  • I like your concept, and the design is pretty cool, but to me it feels too much like you're forcing the banana to look like a T-Rex. What if you swapped it and the shadow was the main focus of the design? You could make the banana smaller (and more banana-like) and then have the shadow look like a dinosaur?

OR if you want to stick with the banana-saur character, maybe think about the silhouette a little more. Try completely blacking out your banana and then comparing that shape with a t-rex silhouette. I could see using this guy as a jumping-off point possibly....

You have nice color sense and line-work though. And I love the lettering! Best of luck, hope this helps.

  • Had a few minutes to spare and thought my poor, neglected Velocidolphin could use a little attention. Just did a bit of texture/color experimentation and slapped him on a template... the plan is still to have the scientific labeling around the drawing, but I can't honestly foresee myself having much time to attend to that in the near future.

In the meantime, all comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
