love the new Critiques section

(edited 2/08)

but - as more has been added - it is very difficult to navigate

any comment bumps that design to the top of the list - therefore bumping Down newly added designs

this is unfair to newer designers who get skipped over because people don't recognize their name and thus they get fewer responses - posts with more responses in general get more attention... vicious cycle...

people can see what they have commented on as "participated" - but we cannot screen to see only the designs that are new

could you PLEASE add something that would flag NEW critique posts - so that newer designs don't get lost when older posts are bumped with comments

it shouldn't be difficult to add a script that remembers if you have opened a particular page, and can flag or color code those designs that you have not yet opened/viewed

or, in lieu of that - keep them i order of time posted - so that people can keep track of designs by commenting and sorting by "participated"

AND

there has been a call by the designers to have the ability to Delete their critiques, once they have subbed them or decided to drop them - and i can see where they're coming from on that - keeping them indefinitely would only sop up bandwidth anyway...

thanks

P.S.
anyone who agrees - please help bump this until there is an official response

(or a sort by date feature would be great... across the board)

i'd like to see time stamps on the critiques, as well as the date stamps!

It's great to test ideas that you aren't sure about and might toss.

But yeah, a time stamp too.
rudra
rudra on Feb 01 '07 at 10:56pm
some people are more settled in their style and know how this place works - but a lot of newer people get beat up by subbing something really crappy because they "were testing how this place works" or they don't have a lot of experience and need a second opinion to see the flaws that they don't see because they've been working on it so long

there's a lot of subs that just needed a few fixes before subbing - and this feature can help those go from a 3 and resub, to a 4 or 5 right off the bat

personal preference but i think it's a great idea

they do seem time-stamped

but i want a way to SORT

i can view "participated" if i commented to see the ones i've seen, but i want the opposite - so that i can see the ones i haven't seen

especially since more "popular" designs or people will get more comments and could drive down other posts, which isn't really fair
J-Ray
J-Ray on Feb 02 '07 at 2:31am
but if you comment on something it gets bumped... once there are hundreds of critique subs, we'll need ways to sort them

i'm not sure a next button is a great idea. wouldn't there be the temptation to just vote and move on without offering criticism? these are blogs like any other after all and people are posting them because they want suggestions.
rudra
rudra on Feb 02 '07 at 2:49am
well - would the vote and move on crowd really bother with the critiques anyway?

but you do have a point

my main point was that i want to see what's NEW so that even if 60 other posts have had comments - i can see what's been posted since the last time i looked without having to go through pages and try to spot thumbs that i don't remember seeing

they just need a script that remembers if you've opened the page

just click the "what's new" sort link - and boom - they're there

I'm loving the new critique section, but i rekon that it may be slightly improved if, when a new version is submitted, it went to the top as opposed to under the previous. My 2nd sub hasn't been getting any votes/feedback but my original keeps getting them.

I would like Threadless to move me onto the next

unchecked (by me) submission for a critique automatically

when I check one of the 3 boxes.

I still haven't figured out what V1, V3, or Vwhatever means

in the Critique list.

J-Ray
J-Ray on Feb 05 '07 at 7:35pm
That's the number of the latest version.

the V means Verification or Ventricle or Vaseline

personally it's just too annoying to try to sort through it now that there's more than a few critiques up

i agree with helo - it'd be nice to vote and be able to automatically go to the next uncritiqued design automatically.

I would prefer to see versions in reverse order, so that when I open a critique blog, the latest version is at the top.
