hey! I'm from Maryland and have done both... 2 years ago I drove with my boyfriend across the country (to los angeles) and last summer I had my own car shipped out.
the drive took us about 4 days... not too awful. we split the cost of hotel rooms and gas, so it wasn't all that bad and we just ate $1 food from gas stations.
shipping out my car cos $1,200... this was almost twice as much as the drive!! so much money...
if you have a friend, I say do the drive... we made games out of taking pictures of the state signs whenever we crossed a border... it was pretty fun.

do the drive. that would be so much fun. i almost wish i was in the predicament you're in right now. i'd love to drive cross country!

yes the drive! road trips are awesome! shipping cars is expensive and risky

Some years ago I drove from New Jersey to San Fran with friends. We used one of those companies that deals with shipping cars across the country so we only had to pay for gas. Took ten days ( although we did detour to Niagra Falls ) Without doubt one of the best experiences of my life. Do it !
