growing up, we had to drive a few towns over to a skating rink that was only open when someone rented it for special occasions. it was rad!

there's no skating rink where i live now and the nearest ones are too far (aka. big city drivin', no thanks). so, i want to buy a building and run my own skating rink.

so, tell me what you love most about roller skating, provide fun images, give me links to your favorite dive, list movies that have roller rinks, the usual blog flow ya know...

one time, i took a corner too wide and my skate wheels got stuck w/a much older cute boy's skate. his friends all laughed at him as it took forever to unlatch, but he was really nice.

we always went to United Skates of America...which is now WOW Family Fun Center.

It was pretty awesome...I normally rollerbladed there though..and we would all think we're so cool when we would request songs and stuff...

I fell once while roller skating, and I sort of fell onto one of the wheels with my crotch...haha...so that hurt. I remember that vividly.

I got the wind knocked out of me when I accidentally pulled my babysitter on top of me as I was falling. it was awful.

the place we used to go was a big farm-type building so there was no fancy stuff. you walked in, got your shoes, small sitting area to put them on, and the rink.

it blows my mind that there are places that have video games and food courts and i don't know whatelse.

haha, you just skate into one of the corners and then a blindfolded person/judge calls a number and everyone in that corner is out. and then you shuffle around again.

NUMBERS on the floor! a co-worker mentioned they did random drawings based around the numbers on the floor. that game sounds pretty fun too.

i can't believe there aren't more skating rinks. you'd think it would be a steady income. it works for almost all ages (family time, teen time, date time, get away from winter time). maybe not as many ppl know how to skate these days. my roommate doesn't, and i'm not sure if i remember how.

i kinda wish i knew more about buying and running a business. i think that woman-owned business get some kind of grant w/ the gov., but i could be wrong. if i knew more, i'd totally be doing this for real.

also, i'd ask everyone here to make me some black-light art to put up.

I got her the riedell medium range in white with pink wheels and they are really freaking nice skates

make sure to get white stops because most rinks will not let you skate with black stops -

they fit great, I remember emailing them about sizing and I think they said to go down a size? its been a couple years - but they did fit awesome and they are not the super tall boot style but provide plenty of ankle support

the 80-140 price range is probably where you want to be at. any less is cheap and more is kinda crazy

I dont know what the ones here are called but growing up there was one called Jellybeans and one called Scooters, and Jellybeans was a lot classier/fancier/not a dump.

if i had to buy 40+ skates, that price will add up. *need to find out how many skates i would have to stock and what sizes*

if you are looking to get a bulk amount of skates, I think you should have no problem getting a bulk used lot - lots of skate rinks have closed in the last couple decades so there should be tons of old skates somewhere

for new bulk order, you could just get set up as a dealer with reidell or another manufacturer to get wholesale prices (or contact a dealer and arrange a wholesale order) when you buy in bulk you always have leverage to get a better deal so shop around
