So, that was fun. There was only one person from my initial list that didn’t get anything because she stopped blogging and her emails bounced back; I made up for it by adding many others though. This is the first major project that I’ve ever finished that was completely my own doing, and it is astonishing to see the end results. A big thank you for everyone who participated and encouraged along the way. I hope to someday soon have an etsy store, but maybe just use it as a way to keep track of art swaps.

NOTE: if you want wicked-cool crafty goodness, HEAD OVER TO KIRSTEN'S ETSY. for realz!

chelly on Nov 13 '07 at 10:42am
thanks telaine!

pry4lis - i found this pouch/wallet thing that would be up my alley. is that the kind of thing that you make? the extra zipper area at the back is not necessary. i just rarely have a good wallet that will also hold my change. i might be getting ahead of myself here, but i didn't want you to think i wasn't thinking about it.

so chelly, do you have a favorite type of yarn to use? or brand? just curious :)
chelly
chelly on Nov 13 '07 at 11:01am
not in general. it usually depends on the project. i tend to just grab what feels nice and is decent quality from walmart (gasp!) or a craft store. i have a small yarn that i use for details that i tend to like (softbees? gah, of course i can't remember the name).

sometimes i'll get some handspun stuff from etsy, which is great for the simpler projects because the texture makes it interesting by itself. sometimes i'll sneak downtown to the expensive yarn store and get some quality goods w/o looking at the price tag.

i stay away from red heart yarn. i spent too many years touching that synthetic stuff and now it makes me shudder. i hear it is really good for those little amigurumi cuties though.

No problem. I don't want to rush you Chelly :) But yeah I can do something like that easy.

Are you ok with leather? I can't recall if you were one of the ones from my handbag blog that was creeped out by leather or not. The leathers I have are top quality hides from Italian tanneries. But I do have some fabrics laying around if you prefer.
chelly
chelly on Nov 13 '07 at 2:51pm
Leather-wise I have a classy espresso brown that is nearly black as well as a kinda orangey-light brown.... I also have a vintagy dark mossy green color.

all of those sound lovely, but also kinda like you'd be spending a lot more on your supplies than i would.

i'd feel bad .

you got anything laying around that you just want to get out of your supplies? i'd probably really like that one!
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Nov 13 '07 at 2:56pm
nah! I want you to have something nice! Besides I've got a totaly of like like 80 square feet laying around and wallets make a great use of the pieces too small to use for bags :) heheh I was a really really bad girl when I bought leather... I coulda gotten 3 twelve month clubs and still had left over for what I spent.

But it is all for a good cause! I will make awesome bags! They will be so cool and unusual the boutiques will have to buy them and then someday I'll be running my own company doing something I love rather than working for someone else! :D So it's an investment in me! heheh

chelly on Nov 13 '07 at 3:49pm
let's keep the dream alive. i too, no longer want to work for someone else (or not the specific someone else i'm working for now). anyhow, when we get to this, let's talka bout swapping through etsy. that way you can have an additional sale at your store and i can have a reason to create a store. :)

chelly
chelly on Nov 18 '07 at 8:27pm
aw, nora! you look beautiful!!! otherwise i wouldn't have posted it. but if you want me to take it down, i will do so.

CHRIS! so far you've asked me to make you a death shroud and...some other crazy thing that i couldn't make. if you want a scarf i can probably do that. i've had you on my mental list for ages, but i only have two hands (sadly).

thanks everyone else, i hope to get an etsy store up soon
Jackanapes mk.II
Jackanapes mk.II on Nov 18 '07 at 8:29pm
Oh. Yeah. I was probably joking about the death shroud.

Make me some sorta guitar-themed scarf or something. Something music themed. Or whatever you want. I'd wear anything you made proudly.

Sure, Nora. I suppose. . .
chelly
chelly on Nov 18 '07 at 8:41pm

I deleted my other blog so in case you missed the response, dark brown bunny yarn is just peachy :)

I'll have a list of available Threadless tees for pillows soon in case you want to choose from those.
telaine
telaine on Nov 20 '07 at 6:46pm
OK, courtesy of the generous squeegie, I have these extra Threadless tees:
I Love Threadless, For the Birds, Magical Powers, 7.00

So I can make your pillow from one of those or if you have a shirt of your own that you want me to use, you can include that when you mail the scarf down the road. :)
whylime
whylime on Nov 20 '07 at 6:54pm
wow - you did all that in a year? (or slightly more then a year it appears) Thats pretty impressive, and inspiring - you're so innovative. I've been knitting / crocheting for a while now and all i can do are scarves / stripy scarves. I think i'm going to have to teach myself something a little fancier soon - though i don't think i will be managing anything as cool as your character hats any time soon.

chelly
chelly on Nov 20 '07 at 8:18pm
telaine - i really need to take a look at my shirts to see if i want to send you any compared to the one's squeege sent you. i really like those. do you do pillowcases? i like your pillows (heehee) too, but i've been wanting a threadless pillowcase for a while.

whylime - thank you. if you can do scarves, you can do hats. they are just the same as scarves, except you loop it after the first row. play around w/ it a bit and see what happens.

the blog is not a hundred times better w/ dom in it. this is about his penis, after all.

thanks jet!
telaine
telaine on Nov 20 '07 at 11:50pm
I haven't done one yet but I know how I would do it and I can do a test run with some material here first. I'll have a few questions for you but I can hold off until you know which shirt. One thing for you to consider in the meantime is that you'll want a shirt that has a soft layer ink on it if your head is gonna be on it a lot. Most dark shirts (but not all) have heavier ink, like Magical Powers.
shakethesheets
shakethesheets on Nov 20 '07 at 11:55pm
Telaine, in case I try to commission one from you or try it myself in the future, what size shirts would you use for a pillowcase?
telaine
telaine on Nov 21 '07 at 12:08am
If you use only the t-shirt as fabric, a guys XL or 2X ... any smaller and some complimentary fabric would need to be added ... feel free to e-mail me if you're interested (so I don't hijack chelly's blog here) telaine at gmail dot com :)
