*this blog does not promise that adam white will answer said question, but encourages additional questions regardless

do you save all the pictures of the people who bought your shirt and post gallery photos?

so, i hear you are a vegan. i know nothing about that. how's that work as far as your art is concerned? could you recommend your favorite meal?

what is your cult going to be called?

how much time do you find you generally spend on a design?

what do you personally feel is your strongest tee design to date?

you have recently had shirts that are going to show up on RealWorld and MythBusters, so you obviously don't need threadless for pimping your designs. what do you get from subbing here even though the voters are notorious for ignoring your skillz?

what would you like to ask the ppl who vote on your designs?

you are from nebraska and i am from kansas. as a neighbor of the flatlands, what music do you recommend i listen to next?

what makes you shake your head?

most importanly, what maks you shake your rumpah?

Chelly, sorry it took so long to get back to you. Thanks for caring enough to ask.

---

CHELLY: do you save all the pictures of the people who bought your shirt and post gallery photos?

AW: I get photos sent to be once in a while, but most of the time the shirts leave me to an unknown future. I keep any that I receive, and hope to some day put together an online collection. It's always fun to see how a new shirt is worked into someone's life. Does it become there favorite? Does it get old and becomes a dust rag? Lost on a trip through the jungle? The answers I may never know, but it's fun to think about.

CHELLY: so, i hear you are a vegan. i know nothing about that. how's that work as far as your art is concerned? could you recommend your favorite meal?

AW: It doesn't have any effect on the art, and most friends, even for years have no idea. I'm not a verbal person about a lot of things, I just live it. We could hang out every day for a month, and possibly the only thing you may pick up on is me ordering something without cheese. I think people make too big of a deal about others personal habits.

Probably for someone who loves the meat, I would say Falafel is something to try.

CHELLY: how much time do you find you generally spend on a design?

AW: I really like drawing little concepts on scrap paper and napkins, and spend a lot of time on the pencil work. Even though the pencil gets covered in ink and erased, I enjoy the process more then the end result a lot of the time. Not sure how long it really takes, but I have seen the sun rise more then enough times in my day.

CHELLY: what do you personally feel is your strongest tee design to date?

AW: It doesn't involve any illustration, but I still feel strong about the VENOM design, and though a lot of people don't exactly know who he is, they seem to really like it too. I have a few photos of him on my site. He's kind of like if Motley Crue and Homer Simpson had a baby.

Of my Threadless subs, it would have to be
Have you my weigh
, for the Fast Food Nation contest. Any design with both ghosts and french fries together is all right with me.

CHELLY: you have recently had shirts that are going to show up on RealWorld and MythBusters, so you obviously don't need threadless for pimping your designs. what do you get from subbing here even though the voters are notorious for ignoring your skillz?

AW: I've read in these blogs something that I have experienced, 'Threadless' and the 'Threadless Loves' competitions have helped me get out of a comfort zone that can become a slump for designers. Either you always draw people, or cars, or even roller skate wearing were wolves, which I have been guilty of. It makes you push yourself around a theme, and that really can be a productive experience.

CHELLY: what would you like to ask the ppl who vote on your designs?

AW: I know everyone is honest with what they say in the comments, and criticism, and lower scores don't bother me. I have recently included the original pencil sketches with some of mine to show the involvement and effort put into a design, that I think, is over looked sometimes. So in the end I would ask to take a second to realize each piece you are voting on was a period of someone's life. Looking back on the short time I have been on Threadless I can remember stories about each design as I was creating it, a break up, my dad getting seriously ill, or a happy time where life seemed like a dream. It doesn't always have to run that deep but its there none the less.

CHELLY: you are from nebraska and i am from kansas. as a neighbor of the flatlands, what music do you recommend i listen to next?

AW: Locally, Nebraska has produced some of the greatest music out there right now. You have everything on Saddle Creek, like The Faint, Bright Eyes, and Cursive. Those are just a few. I've been told it's probably because there is nothing better to do in Nebraska so people have free time to become great musicians. I can't see anything wrong with that...Remember Matthew Sweet?

CHELLY: what makes you shake your head?

AW: A lot of amazing talent gets over looked, and everyone has their story of the project that got away. Even with what seems like an monumental accomplishment, every artist I know is broke. I'm not only a member of that club, I am also the president.

most importantly, what makes you shake your rumpah?

AW: My music list could go on forever, but if you are talking literal 'by strobe light in the club', the The Faint, Ladytron, Daft Punk, and forever, Parliment.

wow, adam. thank you so much for taking the time to answer this. and an extra special thanks for giving mad props to parliment, because when you really think about it, the funk is what it is ALL about.

i hope this was a good experience for you in a non-creepy way....although you never did answer lemonalle's question. i suppose every good artist has to keep an element of mystery.

and not to be upstaged.....parliment.

here i am! what a great blogterview...er...something like that. anyway, i want to say thanks to adam for taking the time too as he is one of my favorite artist at threadless. also, i his pencil sketches that he posts are actually more enjoyable for me than his subs sometimes. that's not meant to be a knock on his subs that is just my way of saying how much i love the actual drawing. great work chelly and great work adam!
