Sorry but it seems that this shirt got printed with some senseless errors. First off, it is a s'mores requirement for at least the marshmallow to be toasted. Also it is assembled wrong. The marshmallow goes on top of the chocolate. No one builds a cheeseburger by sticking the cheese under the burger. And ok, I admit, adding the psi part is cute...but i am am totally lost. Are we supposed to squeeze the marshmallow first at 1.6 psi, then the marshmallow and chocolate together at 3.2 psi, then the whole thing at 5 psi? Are those measurements for using an untoasted s'more as shown? I realize that Mr. Colbow originally used inches for this so I cant fault him.

They seem to be toasting in the picture.

And if you think it's upside down, flip it over. The top and bottom bits look the same, unlike with a cheeseburger.

But I have no idea what a s'more even is.

Smores are the awesome gooiness of melted marshmallow, and chocolate smooshed between graham crackers.

And you only do it outside over campfires, when the marshmallow catches fire you pull it off the stick (or scrape off with graham crackers) and smoosh down on the chocolate and grahmmy goodness and with each bite it spurts out even more from between it and dribbles down your fingers.

But it's awesome.

Gimme s'more! Because one is never enough.

Also, in Detroit this winter they had something called 'winter blast' where they had, amongst other wintery things, big barrels with burning wood in them, so that you could make s'mores like a homeless person.

alright, thanks for informing me :D

well, I don't know what a Graham cracker is, but it looks like a normal cookie / cracker. And I haven't eaten a single marshmallow in my life, but I know what they look like. Hmm.

Ha, two thoughts. The shadow of the marshmallow only showed up on the graham cracker, so chocolate went on top (artistic license). I totally pulled the PSI out of my backside cause it was better than inches.

wow, I can't believe all these people who haven't heard of s'mores! I'm in NZ which is pretty much the end of the world (unless you count antarctica) and even I know what s'mores are... and they taste SO damn good!

I don't know what a graham cracker is either, though. *sighs* Can't you just use any cracker? We do....

I agree wholeheartedly, [+duracell-]. A s'more is certainly a very serious camping tradition and it is one that, indeed, deserves the utmost in respect and honor. I have no doubt that the artist of the shirt in question has tried his very best to pay tribute to the powerful attractive forces inherent in the s'more: the intoxicating smell; the gooey texture; and the almost heavenly mixture of marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker. Unfortunately, I am certain that more research could have been incorporated into this design in order to give the s'more the proper admiration.
J-Ray
J-Ray on Apr 14 '08 at 4:42pm
Also, we are given the square measurement for the cracker and chocolate, but how big is the marshmallow supposed to be?

The PSI doesn't make any sense.

I have no confidence that buying this shirt will help me make the idea s'more. :'(

Then again, [+duracell-], it is only Smores 101. I think Threadless will go into finer detail with Smores 201, which we can assume will print in about 4 months.
Shimunood
Shimunood on Apr 14 '08 at 5:31pm
It's gotta be graham crackers, and it's gotta be a hershey milk chocolate bar, and a pro would never let his marshmallow catch fire! How childish! It's not until S'mores 201 that you apply the heat, during the Lab portion of the course. Jeez I didn't even get to eat one until grad s'mores school.

Sounds to me like a couple of large companies in the US have brainwashed people into using their products to a very delicious end!

But only in the US would they give them such a stupid name as a s'more. I do understand why it is called a s'more, but it is a stupid name. But then again, it is better than calling it a da-most or a yo-tasty!
pizzawench
pizzawench on Apr 14 '08 at 6:06pm
It's because when you are eating them they are so gooey and yummy that you can't say "I want some more" so you just get out "s'more!"

Geeze, you people and your lack of s'more knowledge.

Oh and as for the psi measurement, it just measures the respective psi experienced at the various points on the s'more. It's like a force diagram on a schematic. Pure brilliance!

He even accounted for the loss of energy out the sides when you press down. Pure brilliance on again!
pizzawench
pizzawench on Apr 14 '08 at 6:08pm
Oops, I thought you said you don't understand why they called it a s'more. Damn I need to learn to read more carefully :(

Cute idea, but I can't wear this public with these errors. He should have consulted an engineer, but I blame Threadless since they gave the go-ahead.
Pagefault
Pagefault on Apr 14 '08 at 7:08pm
The problem is that a smaller surface area would generate a higher PSI for the same total force, which is exactly opposite what the diagram shows.

Swap the pressures so the marshmallow is receiving the highest PSI and the diagram makes sense.

Graham crackers are similar to digestives, for anyone who knows what those are. Essentially they're sweet biscuits shaped like squares.
