Mr_Hyde aka Eric Denmark is a 41.44 year old boy, has been a member since September 26, 2009, has scored 620 submissions, giving an average score of 3.13, helping 16 designs get printed.
I do not know what to say about this website. I look at all the designs, and the comments that everybody is posting, and I have come to realize that if you are not a total computer geek who has thousands of online freinds, your chances of getting a submission posted are slim to none. Some of the worst designs I have seen on this website, have the most comments. I notice it is the same people making those comments. I thought artists were better than that. Artists are suspose to have open minds, and be supportive of one another, but apparently, you are only supportive of people in your clicks. Seems very petty to me. It is suspose to be about the art, not a popularity contest. I only rate designs that I think are good, because I do not want to hurt peoples chances of getting a submission through. I do not know why I bother being nice though, because nobody has returned favor. I post comments on other people pictures to be supportive, again no one returns the favor. Anyways I know this is going to piss people off, but have we really gotten so petty, that we just want to see anybody that we do not know, fail. As far as I know it does not hurt anybodies chances to vote for other peoples designs. So why so many haters.

ISABOA gets prints because he's talented and his designs are killer. His "Icarus" is effing amazing brilliant genius. But even he gets relatively low scores (See Cavendish Experiment).

You get low scores because... well, because your designs don't appeal to many people. Mine don't either. Keep at it and as you and your designs improve, so will your scores.

maybe people aren't commenting on your designs because, like you, they "only rate designs that I think are good, because [they] do not want to hurt peoples chances of getting a submission through."

personally, i just downvote all your stuff because i hate people named eric.

Good designs sometimes get low scores and few comments. You just have to keep at it. It may seem like popular people are the only ones that are printed, but it's tough for everyone.

Thanks for the input most of the comments were helpful. Only got a couple negative comments, from a couple of total a##holes, but you find them in any grouping I will not mention their names. Most a##holes are very aware that they are a$$holes, they just do not have any other marketable skills. I won't mention there names. It would be in poor taste just like their comments were. I checked them out anyways just a couple of losers who write slogans, and bag on other peoples work ,because they have no real talent, beside witty banter. Anyways thanks again for the constructive critisism. You can say what you want about me, but I have better things to do than insult people I do not know, just to make myself feel less inadequate

don't waste your time looking at the score, look at what gets printed.

you also just insulted people you didn't know

but your are right, based on the art of your I have seen, you wont be winning any contests with out the help of friends. keep practicing

You should hang around for a bit before you stick your nose up in the air regarding this website. What you see on the submissions that have a bunch of comments but aren't a masterpiece (by your standards) is a COMMUNITY. We all like to support eachother, and of course those that put a little effort into becoming part of that community will get a decent amount of feedback.

Haters be hatin'.

You say it is not a children' site. Yet you are acting like a child. Insulting people you do not know. Ranting and raving. Using profanity in a public forum. I am sure there are kids who visit this website. I am not getting involved in this whole circle of negativity. You can post as many comments as you like. I am not going to get drawn into a juvenile debate. Maybe you should ask yourself why you even care.

You know what maybe your right. Maybe I am being critical, and I will stop now. However my reaction was towards 2 individuals who posted comments that were just negative, and not constructive at all. Maybe I just need thicker skin. I do not judge people or make rude comments to people I do not know. Comments like "I just hate people named Eric" How is that a constructive comment. I am being accused of acting like a baby. But I came to this forum frustrated looking for help, and instead, I get insults, then I answer those insults, and I am accused of acting like a child. I have never insulted anybody or their work on this website. all I did was respond to 2 incredibly negative comments. I am going to leave the forum now, and I am ending this cycle of negativity. For everyone who posted a positive response giving me advice thank you. For those I have offended i am sorry. I neded to learn to take even negative critism with a grain of salt.

Thank you for your support. I really appreciate the advice. i am just going through some hard times right now. I recently lost some body close to me. I am just very frustrated, and people who make rude comments just to make rude comments are a big trigger for me. I know that in any grouping you find people who just do not care whose feelings they hurt. Anyways thanks again for the advice.

mike bautista on Oct 12 '09 at 5:49pm
You have to acknowledge that you are on the internet. And considering what happens on the internet, those "negative" comments aren't all that bad. In their defense, you came in with your fingers pointing. No one means any harm, just chill and roll with the punches. Having friends here doesn't change your voting average, but it does give you lots of moral support. So in short, just don't be an asshole and have fun.

Yeah... you gotta give yourself more than a month to 'get' the tone around here -- lots of these folks have been bantering with each other for years... imagine any group of old friends, who'll razz each other; sometimes to a stranger they may seem like they don't actually like each other. And they may include any random passersby who stick their heads up in their banter, too.

You can't step in and expect to understand the flow in under a month....

Seriously, it took some time for me to get the feel of this place. The best way is to not take it too seriously, take it in whatever doses you can handle (I often don't visit for a few weeks), and just do what you enjoy. Oh, and treat others as you would have them treat you, even the rude ones. Hope that helps.

There's lots of really helpful, positive comments towards your post here. But then there's the one i see as the most truthful and direct:

rossmat8 on Oct 12 '09 at 4:28pm

Dude your designs suck. Draw something better and stop blaming the system for your own failures.

I comment on everything and everything that makes me feel something about a person's art. so far your pieces haven't really anything from me more than a "hmm, that's not very good for a t-shirt" and move on. Horse of adifferentcolor is closing in on something, but then again it's like a not as good version of fawnfruits printed design. Just keep improving, take people's serious criticisms seriously and don't take it so hard here and have fun.

i look forward to the day when i give one of your designs a 2 or more.

Same here. As an artist criticism is very important. The creator is too close to the work. They need input from the observer. Otherwise, besides self-fulfillment, what's the point?

I've only been around here for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say it seems to me that good work does get a positive response, no matter whether the artists are new or have been here since forever. Of course there is a lot of down-voting, but that's the same for everyone.

plus the number of votes or comments doesn't really make your design print. If the guys up top like it, they'll pick you anyways.

Also this is an immense community, with a large number of really amazing artists, so not even all the great pieces can get printed. The printing side is a bit of skill and a bit of luck - don't hope for instant fame, just use this place as a sounding board for your work. As time goes on and your scores go higher, you'll feel you've evolved as an artist.

my two cents:

this site is absolutely amazing!

as far as i can tell, subs need to be creative and original, some how very relatable, punny or very detailed...and the medium is a t-shirt, so it has to look like people would wear it.

you have good style, very detailed work, just odd subjects or scenes sometimes...you have what it takes!

i used to spam horribly when i first became active on threadless, and i feel that i'm still recovering sometimes from it. and noobs get harrassed and initiated, there are haters for sure...it is a virtual world of avatars what do you expect...but being a noob is like pledging to be active and supportive in the community...

i really like organic music!

That's the right attitude. I got really upset with a poster called Hmo7ster because he was saying scores are the all important.

NUMBERS ARE ABSTRACT!! STUFF GETS PRINTED AT 2.0 OR LESS! I would love to be printed, as I'd like to see someone wear my tee and get some moola -but you have to really enjoy it for the sake of it. People don't make a living from T'less (some subbers do rather well out of it tho).

My advice is, cancel this account and start a new one OR start being nice to people and respect their artwork. All of the shielded designers have worked darn hard or are extremely talented to get printed (including the wordsmiths too).
