The missus and I are taking a grand tour of the wine-centric areas of Italy, and are leaving tomorrow! This will be our first time ever - what should we expect?

Also, this means that I won't be able to attend the Meetup this year (even though as an Ambassador I was supposed to be one of the presenters). SO who wants to bring along a Han Solo action figure and pretend it's me all weekend?

have a great trip Ian! We'll miss you when we're just a trio of presenters that should be a fearsome foursome!

Sorry, don't have a Han Solo action figure, but I can pretend this is you if you'd like!

I went to Italy for 10 days way back in 1999 on an educational tour thru my community college. We did 7 cities within that time period so it was kind of hectic and we mostly just saw the sights. It's beautiful so be prepared for that. And don't miss out on visiting a cathedral since they are absolutely awe inspiring.

Frickinawesome Man, that's a big step down from Han Solo to crazy cat lady. Also, I'm perplexed about why (and how) crazy cat lady comes with her OWN crazy cat lady figure. That' some infinite recursion right there.

thirteedaisies We're doing 2 weeks, and trying to keep a slower pace, just doing some vineyards in Tuscany, then Florence, Cinque Terre and Venice. I've got the camera and pencils ready to try to prepare for the beauty, and we'll definitely hit a couple of cathedrals. Thanks for the tips!

I was trying to think of some of the things my Italian teacher told us before we went and the only one I can remember is to bring your own towel. Americans are used to terry cloth towels and the towels in Italy are linnen. Hope you have fun!

espresso after dinner = ok, cappuchino after dinner not ok

Just dig in the food often, it's awesome. Even mundane things like pizzas. Italy is for slow eating and fast driving.
