I don't want to hurt my feets again at the Chicago meetup this fall or any other casual event that involves lots of walking. Anyone got good ideas for cool-looking shoes that are nice to feet?

Update

I went shoe crazy the past two days.

Yesterday, I got some Converse for $20 at TJ Maxx just for fun (not crazy walking). Is $20 a decent price or should I return them?

Like these but more dusty pink ..

Because today, I went to Rogan's and got some cushy cushy ROOS! I wasn't expecting to like em but they were so nice. And fun colors, too! This isn't them because I can't find my colors online (lavendar, gray, yellow).

And for half off, I got these Union Bay flipflops cuz they are squishy :-)

Check out www.zappos.com

Better than ecco, Mephisto!

Also better than ecco IMO, Finn Comfort!

Seconding the Sanuk's. They're the most comfortable things EVER.

I actually like these:

even though I'm personally not crazy for "vegan" products. they look cute and comfy. they also come in a pretty grey color too.

I also think these are cute:

And these are my favorites... I want them so bad!

Piperlime is just a shoe shop like zappos.com

It was launched by the Gap Inc Brand within the last couple of years. I can't remember exactly.

Anyways they carry all sorts of brands from naturalizer and crocs, to frye and steve madden, up to like high end designer stuff.

I trekked all throughout London in my Adidas Superstars that I've had for 5 years. Most comfy pair of shoes I have yet owned.

A lot of these shoes do not look comfortable to walk in. Maybe they're comfortable, but good for a lot of walking? Conclusion: girls are silly when it comes to shoes.

No one's mentioned Puma yet? I have these:

...but in a different color. I get compliments on them all the time and they're comfy. If you get them, you'll want to break them in before you walk long distances.

Yup, Volatile Chelly.

I have these and they are so comfy.

Then I have about 4 other pairs from them in varying styles. All comfy.

yeh, that list was before i looked up all the suggestions and links to make sure i understood what was being said. i'd never heard of that brand, but they got some funky-cushiony stuff.

wow, this blog has gone explodey in a good way :-)

v1ctorya, would those really be comfy walking around the streets of chicago all weekend long tho? I love sandals but I would think the heels would be killer by Day 2.

the pumas did not have enough support last summer when I was shopping. It was too bad because I agree they look awesome.

I'm really liking the colorful shoes in here so far. White is boring, sorry.

Telaine - they also have sneakers that are cushy.

Those sandals helped me post foot surgery, doc said they were flexing my toesies in all the right ways.

But if you look up volatile shoes, you will see they have a whole range of sneakers and stuff, all super cushy/foamy.

sweet, I'm trying to avoid foot surgery so I will look em up! thanks :-)

bah, shoe shopping via the web is redonkulous
last year i could find the shoes i wanted (and then some!) for less than $30 and this year i have to be willing to spend almost twice that.
what a rip.

Yeah, check out the Puma sneakers as well if you're looking for more support. Their sneakers are probably the most comfortable I've ever worn. Also, if you can, try to find a Puma outlet store. That way you can get them for a good discount AND you can try them on (as opposed to buying on ebay). Their sizes are a little wonky so it's not a bad idea to try them on (unless you already know your size in their shoes).

I have these ones too, and they're awesome:

Ooh, those are snazzy, v&v. I'd say New Balances and Pumas have been the most comfortable walking shoes for me... That said, I mostly wear my Nike Air Forces now and they don't give me any trouble.

^ Those look nice!!

I don't trust sizes enough to buy off the web. So I'm going to hit the local mall this week and hope I find a deal on Sanuks and/or Vans. Or maybe I'll give Puma or ecco another chance. I love this blog :-)

shakethesheets on Jun 30 '08 at 11:24am
Sanuks seem comfy but the last thing I would think is "comfortable for walking long distances." You'd need a shoe with some support.

I really like them so far and they are true to size for me. I just bought 2 more pair so I will be testing them out for the next month. I'll keep you up to date on how they perform!

oops, i forgot to look for those rocket dogs, priscilla. i couldn't find an image, so i just snapped a photos of mine, just so you could see them.

These ARE comfy, but they are NOT good for walking a lot.

sheets, yeah, I think I will need to get a true pair of walking shoes in addition to the sanuks. It's hard to resist them tho. :-)

littlem, those shoes are lovely! I really do like my mary-jane Rocketdogs that I got last year but the velcro is starting to not stick :-(

I hadn't heard of them until this blog. Mine are purple and I love them! Now I gotta break them in all summer long for the Chicago weekend of walking walking walking.

If I had seen your blog when you first posted it, I would have suggested Roos. I have two pairs (well, three, because I just bought another pair) and love them. I wore them during my last trip to San Francisco, where I did a lot of walking.

I wish I had worn Roos instead of Chucks while in Chicago.
ladykat
ladykat on Jul 02 '08 at 3:50am
Wow, those Roos look super-comfy and very cute.

Also, I love the Puma flats that Priscilla posted... support isn't such an issue for me, so maybe I'll check 'em out. (Don't think there's a Puma outlet by me, though.)

Alright it's been 10 days since I started wearing the sanuk sandals. That's ALL I have been wearing.

I've put roughly 70 miles of walking on them and my feet are feeling the pain.

They are great if you don't plan on doing too much walking.
Also, I weigh 255 lbs so they might work better for lighter people.
The soles are just basic foam that most flip-flops use and with my weight the material just crushes to super thin in the areas where I distribute most of my weight....ball of my feet and heels.
telaine
telaine on Jul 10 '08 at 1:13pm
that's good to know!

I haven't bought them yet but maybe someday for casual wear :-)

I've been testing my Roos around the house and so far, they feel good. I've learned the chucks are not good for all-day walking like everyone was saying. The gel-sole flip flops feel awesome on my feet after a long day.
kiLLyou
kiLLyou on Jul 10 '08 at 1:17pm
yeah, chucks are NOT a good all day walking shoe!
