I've worn my Fahrenheit 451 about three times, and I just noticed that a lot of the purple ink has... gone. All of the other colours are still perfect, but I've got patches of grey showing through where the purple should be. Has anyone had a similar problem?

You are totally waiting for them to pop out huh

loserbeech on Jul 05 '06 at 1:13am
I'll bet he is.

Not in this lifetime, Rholli. :)

I have to agree. Unforunately Natalia, despite her appearance Nicola is well past the age of puberty and has no real hope of anything "popping out" in that region without medical intervention.

Do you want me to star or narrate? ;)

I love this shirt! I haven't washed mine yet! Now I am worried!
Maybe Iwill just hand wash it.

Nicola said she sent the staff a link to this blog last night. Hopefully she also explained the issue so maybe they'll look. :)

this is a customer service blog...again...
rholliday
rholliday on Jul 05 '06 at 2:05pm
In fairness Benny, I believe the blog was originally created to see if it was only her that was having this issue. Since apparently several people are having a problem with the same part of the same shirt, it looked more like a manufacturing problem than a maintenance problem, so she then used the contact form as appropriate.

I did obviously explain the issue when I wrote to them, which was last night, but they haven't replied yet.

It quite clearly wasn't a customer service blog, when I was finding out more information about the problem before contacting Threadless about it. Way to be a dick.

the black has started to sort of fade on my water, just water...but that's probably because i wear it all the time...

oh no! I bought this shirt when it was first printed, but havent worn it yet. I must now be careful I spose not to wear it on days I work or anyhting. But since every shirt will only last so long, I planned on not wearing this one all that much bc its awesome (which is why ive had it around amonth and havent worn it yet)

Has anyone ever had their design crack? On a few of my tees, the inside print of the size and the mini logo are cracked up like a spider web, even on my favorite shirt~ (i llike trees toO)

etwod, my my pet human tag is all cracked up after it's first wash. and yes, i've had this same fading issue with the purple after one wash. i looked at it and thought i was just seeing things...now i know i'm observant, haha.

would this be a problem with the purple ink or with just a specific batch/size? has anyone had their shirt washed a few times and not had this problem?

My Veins tee has quite faded blacks and I've only worn it once (it was like it before I wore it) I must have just got one just before the ink ran out or something. It's kind of annoying.... I mean, it's a select tee.

that purple ink is highly corrosive and designed to wear off before it can eat through your chest. you should thank threadless for their foresight and consideration.

this is why I hate heather grey colored t-shirts... notice that it only happens on this color...

that's been happening to my f451 shirt too. it stinks. i've only washed it once.
Larlar
Larlar on Jul 06 '06 at 1:18pm
Shit, I just ordered Bleeding Sun Remix. That better not happen because of the grey shirt or there'll be plenty of fist shaking in my future.
Manos
   Manos on Jul 06 '06 at 1:24pm
it could be that they didn't "cure" properly the color.

the ink to become solid and stick to the garment has to be "cured", basically be put under a uv light for a few secs. if that is not done properly then the ink flakes away, fades.

of course you have to always take care of screen printed tees. always wash them in 30-40C tops eitherwise you will ruin them.
Manos
   Manos on Jul 06 '06 at 1:25pm
i doubt the fabric is causing the problem.
UberRyan
UberRyan on Jul 06 '06 at 2:42pm
its not the fabric, its the dye of the fabric not being able to sustain a bond to the ink or paint rather.

Crud...that happened to my 451 as well. After one wash, the purple ink faded. Since then, I have not worn it.
ir0cko
   ir0cko on Jul 06 '06 at 4:26pm
i wore mine yesterday. i just hope it doesn't get really bad the next time i wash it.
UberRyan
UberRyan on Jul 06 '06 at 9:22pm
try turning it inside out when you go to wash it irocko, that may maintain the ink a tad longer, since theres no harsh washing or rubbing directly on the design

Man, I'm totally knocking wood as I type this, but so far the only problems I've had are with the silkscreened "tags" wearing out. They only seem to be done half-assed, though, so that's no biggie.

hmm, i always wash my shirts inside out, ryan. maybe that's why the ink hasn't gone too much. we'll see what happens.
UberRyan
UberRyan on Jul 06 '06 at 10:34pm
could be... don't wash them with jeans or towels either.

That's horrible! I was thinking of buying this but now I'm having second thoughts...

I wash mine inside out too. But with jeans too. Maybe i shouldn't do that?

The worst thing that has ever happened to one of my designs is my "Moby Was a Consumer" when i got it a tiny piece was like missing from the whale. but it's not very noticeable.
