I must say that I find it terribly disheartening when within seconds after submitting a slogan it immediately gets at least 4 drive down votes. It is an attack, and I have often wondered if these drive down voters even read my slogans. On one hand, I do realize not all of my slogans are print quality, but on the other hand, I believe that some are quite good.

I think people should perhaps be allowed to vote down, but if they do more than say four or five in a row, a short span of time, then they should have to validate why they vote 'um stupid' and the moderators on TL, then judge whether the drive down vote should be allowed to be counted. This may stop the compulsive drive down votes.
What do others think?

You have way too many slogans. Delete anything under 20% then I'll vote on whatever is left honestly.

That's a terrible idea, considering the amount of slogans submitted per day I think that it would take someone working full time to do that.

Plus most slogans are bad, and not to be a dick but thew few of yours I read aren't good at all. Just following your advice:

Honesty is the Best Policy!!

of 26 votes, 8% like it

I have only been a member for a short period of time. Kaslen, how long have your Slogans been up before they reached 60%? Surely you have to leave them up for more than two days at least.

Quite a few of my slogans are doing really well and do not deserve to be driven down within a two minute time span of them being published. I do realise that a lot of people are just not able to understand double meanings. I also give exception to people who do not understand Australian Humour.

That being said, I read of lot of peoples slogans and just because I don't like them, I do not jump down their throats and knock them off the rating scale!

cut out the ones that aren't doing well.....if one of my slogans hits 10 votes and is under 20% I delete it 20 votes and under 40% it gets cut (OSC Comp slogs are the exceptions)

they get cut if they are at that % no matter if they have been up 5 secs or 5 weeks

If your stuff isn't doing well it doesn't appeal to this community....either change tack or change audience

I NEED TO MAKE THIS CLEAR: I started this blog because I have been discussing this issue with other members of this community!

IT IS NOT ABOUT ME, SO STOP MAKING YOUR PERSONAL ATTACKS ON MY SLOGANS!

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE INSTRUCTIONS NEXT TO WHERE YOU ARE WRITING YOUR COMMENTS: "Remember, be nice!”

Being Nasty is not being objective.

I think it's you that's taking it personal, and you're the one contruing them as nasty. No one said anything directly about you, called you names or insulted you in any way; we merely said your slogans were bad, which they are, it's not an attack, it's criticism, and it's objective.

Hmm.....yes

The question you asked would inevitably lead to such a response.

You've only been a member for a few weeks and it seems you've just jotted down everything possible that came to mind hoping that one of them would catch on. Quality over quantity indeed. You simply have to many slogans, WAY to many at the moment and a vast number are not doing well at all. People see this and their attitudes will change as they skim through you're slogans. They see the low %'s and lose interest in continuing on.

Basically, you should go on a deleting spree and keep the ones that have had the best turnout.Don't just submit every last thing that comes to mind. Slogans need to be thought out and maybe even tested on some people before submiting it.
DekuTrash
DekuTrash on Jul 31 '09 at 10:08pm
Also, many of the slogans are simply to generic.Take you're time in finding slogans you may consider.

if that was/is the case, i don't understand the need for this blog if you were discussing it, "objectively", with the community just fine elsewhere...

the only reason i see for this blog is so a more subjective take on the issue can be taken...

Kash, you'll get what you get and you'll like it.

Slogans are tough. On the one hand, with only two options, it's very easy to have them flooded by jerks trying to boost their own playing field. On the other hand, lots of slogans actually are really trite or else suck.
