honestly... really graceful sweeping lines
set aside some time in 2008 and we will have to make some cool sculpture or make a canoe

tell me you drilled out most of your stock, because if you carved out that hole just wow, and what danielle said about Shag, of all reference books haha

Yes, a canoe!

I had to glue two blocks together since one block wasn't enough to get the profile I wanted . I only had a small exacto hand saw (like this) to cut away the excess areas so it wasn't an easy start. I also had a dremel tool but it was missing all the good bits so I did what I could with a mini saw and grinder bit. To get the front/back/bottom drafting holes I used a quarter inch drill bit followed by a combination of the dremel and wood carving tools like these

as for Shag... I was using that upper right cropped page and these guys below as a basic blueprint since they seemed to match up with the pine wood block pretty well...

I was trying to get that bottom one on ebay but it went for $175

Thats smashing. How long has it taken you to get that good at carving?
For my birthday, my fella got me a new book of tiki statues & some woodworking tools, but thus far all ive done is look at the wood & plan what I'm gonna do with it. I'm stupidly concerned about making a bodge.
