(This started as an alumni blog but I'm moving it into the regular blogs to get further feedback)

I think this is going to rule.

I made a thing I am calling "POWER SCORE!" ... check it out:
http://www.threadless.com/powerscore

It's basically just another, faster, addictive, game-like way to score subs. If it works out and ppl like it, we'll offer it up for everyone to use. But it won't replace the current format.

Let me know what you guys think, feel free to use it all you wish!

very cool, seeing the next shirt cropped in from the side is good for prompting the votes to continue.

Doing powerscoring earlier today, several times the display image for the next design would not show or would remain at the right side of the screen, covered up by the next design's image.

could it be changed to instead of saying 'you have scored 5240 out of 9999 designs' to 'you have scored 5240 designs. 4759 remaining' or something

just so i don't have to do the math every time hah!

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but after posting a comment, the screen goes white, and after reloading jumps to another random design, not the one I just commented (on Google Chrome).

This is sweet, much faster.

Would be cool though if there was an option to score in half point increments like 4.5 if you wanted to. Scoring is serious business and I still can't wrap my brain around having to choose between giving something an 80% and saying it's 100% perfect. A lot of times I end up skipping a design because I can't give it an accurate score.

bumping this so I can find easier. Think it's great BTW. Don't see why it shouldn't replace the old one.

with the subs sticking on the sides of the screen glitch (okay, this is going to be longwinded):

there is usually one stuck underneath the sub on the righthand side of the queue, but occasionally one will slide over and cover most of the current sub (central left of the screen). it stays like this for a couple of subs, until its own sub slides into the centre (it's a duplicate), and after that it sits back on the left of the screen. but no longer covering the central sub up for scoring. so you can go on scoring as normal.

when this happens i hit the skip scoring button, as a) can't see the main sub, and b) not sure which one the scoring will apply to. at the end i got high fived, when i know i missed a few subs (the glitch happened right at the end, so i'd skipped to high five). then if i try by going into the old score system, it tells me i've scored them all. but i haven't.

hope any of that made a flicker of useful sense.

I wish it would remember which sub I was at. Like, if I click on a link in the comments and then go back on my browser, I end up at the first sub I scored, and then it's a hassle to find the sub I wanted to comment or score.

This should also be a warning to all designers. If you put a link to a flickr image or other high res image in your sub, try to make sure it opens up a new window or tab.

note, i use Firefox.

Bio-bot 9000 on Jul 01 '09 at 1:52pm
And also, I wish I could browse backwards as easily as i browse forwards. no matter how many i vote on, or how many subs i click on the right of the screen, I can only go one sub back. then there's just a blank white space on the left where the earlier sub should be.
Bio-bot 9000
Bio-bot 9000 on Jul 01 '09 at 1:54pm
And also, I like how the Title of the sub isn't as prominent (i.e. it doesn't appear on my browser title bar. It allows a more unbiased appraisal of the shirt design itself, without the aid (or hindrance) of the title.

update: I'm really liking POWER SCORE.

I've done it twice now and been through all the submissions. It's quite useful to know how many you have left to do.

And less designs up ftw.

I find it slightly confusing that, in the rare subs that have music in the flash presentation, the music for the next sub plays while I'm viewing the prior sub. I was viewing DracoImagem's new sub when the Munster's theme song started playing!

You have chosen a three wood. May I suggest a putter? ["beep"]

Three wood. Now enter the force of your swing. I suggest feather touch. ["beep beep beep"]

You have entered "POWER SCORE". Now, push seven eight seven to swing. ["beep beep beep"]

I'd like if this method of voting let me do this completely mouse-free. But I've been scrolling up and down to see the whole design, to leave a comment, and to click the I'd Buy This button. It'd be neat if you could somehow size the design to fit on whatever size screen a person has. Also if you could assign a key for "I'd Buy This" so I wouldn't have to use the mouse. And maybe you could have the comment box right below the voting box so that its conveniently right there.

First of all, thanks for using Threadless! I spent many long, sleepless nights building this website! Shondi, my wife, is the best! Right now she is smiling like a little frog.

We live in Chicago and have 2 dogs, Norman and Sophie. We work together for skinnyCorp, a company Jacob and I started back in late 2000 along with this very site you're on right now, Threadless!

Since then, we've built all kinds of neat community driven websites and absolutely love doing it. Hoorah!
