(This started as an alumni blog but I'm moving it into the regular blogs to get further feedback)

I think this is going to rule.

I made a thing I am calling "POWER SCORE!" ... check it out:
http://www.threadless.com/powerscore

It's basically just another, faster, addictive, game-like way to score subs. If it works out and ppl like it, we'll offer it up for everyone to use. But it won't replace the current format.

Let me know what you guys think, feel free to use it all you wish!

Josh makes a good point. But hopefully it will speed things up without making them rush.

i made a bunch of changes to this - you can click a design on the sides to go forward/back, use your number keys for scoring (0-6, 6 being $5) ... and the comments thing has been reworked. rad

The number keys are a great addition.

works nifty, a few designs do not show up. The number keys I can't get working, maybe because of laptop layout

haha, there was only one sub in the running for me, so I couldn't see the full extent of it, but seems awesome enough!

yea, probably a bit buggy - any insight into what's not working would be helpful

stalliongsta on Jun 24 '09 at 2:29pm
this is pretty nice. my one complaint is that the random number generator shows me subs i've already voted on.

(this happens to me with the normal scoring method, too. i just thought i'd mention it.)
skaw
   skaw on Jun 24 '09 at 2:34pm
yea stalliongsta, that is a db issue with our slaves lagging that is separate from this... something we're working on.

This is such a good idea. It seems as though the load time between subs is quicker too. And I LOVE how it tells me how many subs I have scored out of the total number. I think that the total number of subs that I and others score will be much greater now that this has been introduced. Nice job!

Bio-bot 9000, what are your main concerns?
Mya Jamila
Mya Jamila on Jun 24 '09 at 2:42pm
I absolutely love it.
I haven't scored anything, other than specific suggestions, in ages but this makes it effortless. And fast!
gumbolimbo
   gumbolimbo on Jun 24 '09 at 2:44pm
mmm...
The designs not showing up every now and again seems to be a layout/css thing. They show uo for a split second, then, when the other stuff loads, they jump to the right in the placeholder for the next design for a sec, then get "over written" by the next design.

I'm just taking guesses, but I think Sam just sees it as a faster voting system with a new look. Besides that, its pretty much the same. I'm sold on the speed and convenience of it alone, but I can see how someone might not be blown away.

The horizontal scrolling plus the up and down scrolling for large submissions is kind of disconcerting, but I like the keypad based scoring system, and how subs load faster.

Maybe i'm just old fashioned.

Since you introduced this I use it ALL THE TIME! The only drag is if I want to comment it takes a few clicks and there's no easy way to get back and I'd like a way to go back to a design I scored (cause sometimes I get in the groove and underscore something rad)

it would be nice if the numbers were above the designer's name so i don't have to waste time scrolling down to the lower numbers, but otherwise that was schnazzy.

I really like this, but when I post a comment the page goes blank. The comment does show up when I search for participated in the blogs. I am using Safari 4.0 on an IMac

All about me
First of all, thanks for using Threadless! I spent many long, sleepless nights building this website! Shondi, my wife, is the best! Right now she is smiling like a little frog.

We live in Chicago and have 2 dogs, Norman and Sophie. We work together for skinnyCorp, a company Jacob and I started back in late 2000 along with this very site you're on right now, Threadless!

Since then, we've built all kinds of neat community driven websites and absolutely love doing it. Hoorah!
