(This started as an alumni blog but I'm moving it into the regular blogs to get further feedback)

I think this is going to rule.

I made a thing I am calling "POWER SCORE!" ... check it out:
http://www.threadless.com/powerscore

It's basically just another, faster, addictive, game-like way to score subs. If it works out and ppl like it, we'll offer it up for everyone to use. But it won't replace the current format.

Let me know what you guys think, feel free to use it all you wish!

i think i found a bug in it that might be causing it to not work for some of you. while i work on it you can fix it yourself by just skipping a few designs using the regular scoring mechanism, then going back to powerscore and trying again. seems to be a problem if you don't have any skipped designs.

   alexmdc on Jun 01 '09 at 2:38pm
now its showing the comments, but not the scoring, I never skip any subs either I try and vote on all of them ;)

Great work guys. A great way to counter the lull.
fatheed
   fatheed on Jun 01 '09 at 2:51pm
BUT! Can you give us a button to go back to the previous one (not one to go forward) because I was getting my click on and gave something a 4 that I really should have goiven a 5...

And now it's disappeared off my screen and I'll never see it again and it's right there... perched on the side just out of reach. :(

POWER SCORING would be even more fun if you guys added awesome sound effects every time you score a design. A falcon screeching or explosion sounds would be fantastic.

It's working now and it's AWESOME. Hopefully the numbers of voters will grow with this new feature!

Maybe is just me but I think you should give more emphasis to the design title, maybe changing the color or something like that?
WanderingBert
   WanderingBert on Jun 01 '09 at 3:58pm
This is fun! I agree with Rodrigo about the title- given that it can often be important to some designs success.

Suggestion: It'd be nice if you could choose to scroll through one person's designs in this manner.

How hard would it be to write up a quick iphone app to run this sweetchicken?

Chengui
   Chengui on Jun 01 '09 at 5:32pm
I just ran across something strange...

I was powerscoring and got an error message about one of the designs not being up for scoring yet - told me to refresh and then when I did it hadn't saved any of the designs I scored - it was like starting over :(

come to think of it

this HAS to be the first glimpse of the official threadless scoring game iphone app

the way it acts, all quick and touchable

Power-scoring is awesome! As Aled mentioned it would nice to be abe to go back to a sub that I just scored though. Also being able to leave comments without exiting the power-scoring would be extra-cool!

   igo2cairo on Jun 01 '09 at 11:51pm
Joe - if they made an iphone app wouldn't it be cool if it was like cover-flow and you could just scroll through the designs with your at warp-speed and stop at the one's that caught your eye? :)

thanks for the feedback everyone, v2 coming soon ... yea, robsoul, it registers the votes
Tonteau

Tried it at work using internet explorer and at first it hardly loaded any new ones. Then it just loaded totally blank subs. When I refresh it loads the images, but the rest seem to load blank.

skaw

we'll probably just do an iphone optimized website first (hopefully within a few months) that will allow you to score and such then do an app later on. really interested in the new iphone 3.0 software...

That's weeeeeird. I just came back to this blog because I thought to myself how neat it would be if there was a Threadless app for scoring and buying tees.

It's something that you chaps should definitely do.

Is flash player going to be on iPhone 3.0? I really hope so - because flash submissions would have to be filtered out until that was sorted.

i think its too fast- people wont take a good look at the designs- thus perpetuating the need for "instant joke tees"-- which some of us (me) dont like to do :( and dont like to buy :(

sorry for being such a negative nancy

All about me
First of all, thanks for using Threadless! I spent many long, sleepless nights building this website! Shondi, my wife, is the best! Right now she is smiling like a little frog.

We live in Chicago and have 2 dogs, Norman and Sophie. We work together for skinnyCorp, a company Jacob and I started back in late 2000 along with this very site you're on right now, Threadless!

Since then, we've built all kinds of neat community driven websites and absolutely love doing it. Hoorah!
