Quick Fix

Too bad it doesn't work in real life :\ .

theseshirtslookalike

too bad this is one of the most played out concepts, fag emo concepts of all time.

Did you think you were making it fresh by adding scotch tape?

No, that' just lame.

And your little comment, "too bad it doesn't work in real life" makes me crack up.

What? Did your pale skinned, chubby girlfriend dump you for being a loser?

rachel_nyc

I agree and disagree with the previous comment- I do think the whole broken heart thing is way played out (especially evidenced by the fact that the last shirt I just scored like two seconds before this one had a broken heart on it), and if you're even going to go there you need to try to find a less obvious, cleverer (is that even a word) way of doing it.

That said, I'm sick of people being rude, holier-than-thou jerks just because they're not fond of a particular type of design. So what if a lot of people put broken hearts in their designs, and so what if a lot of them seem uninspired or cliched- that's not a reason to get all worked up and go around hurling slurs and generalizations around. GRRRR! It's a tee shirt contest, not a rant board to personally attack people. It would be nice if people could just comment on the designs and move on- leave the personal assaults out of it.

Ikthog

Wait a minute... he's an emo fag... but he has a girlfriend?

Kaethor

I Like it! why everybody has to be like "ohh this is the most used concept or whatever" , if you dont like it dont post your bad cooments!

And mostly of the people who post those bad commets, have F@@$% bad taste and they dont know shyt about design! loosers.

COOL DESIGN npullin!!! 5$!

little_hobbit_feet

THe point behind the comment box is so that the designer gets a good feel for how the design's being received.
Saying "don't say anything if you can't think of anything nice to say" is rediculous and doesn't apply here.

As far as the design, I think it's boring and VERY played out and no where near worth $1000 in prizes.
But Iike the scotch tape effect and how you stayed within the 4 colour restriction to get it. The jagged tape edges are good.

1: If your heart breaks, you die. Should I ever see a person wearing this shirt, I shall assume that he/she is deceased, and continue on with life.

Hobbit Feet, I understand what you're saying but you're a bit off base. No one is saying not to critique a design. There's nicer ways to go about it than resorting to childish name-calling and cursing. (P.S. theseshirtslookalike, you just come off sounding like an angry ignorant little kid when you do that.)

As for me, I think the design is cute, but I agree, we've all seen it before. Npullin, it looks like you have promise in designing, I agree, I really like the scotch tape effect. It looks great. But try to think of something a little more riginal.
Good luck!

A: Shirts, people, and objects can not be emo. Emo is a genre of music. Plus, dont believe the MTV lies, my chemical romance and most "new wave emo" bands are not emo, emo is dead. It was a grenre of music that died a long time ago. Know what emo is!

B: Yes, the breaking heart is very very overplayed and worn out. And if for some reason i liked it, the heart would be to big for the shirt anyway.

Better luck next time.

kvnmllr50

Oh yeah, and I hate it when people use gay as a negatory. Some of the nicest people I know are gay.

Thats all. Sorry for rambling

pawn18

um....you didnt even make the heart...you just used the one from the font

spitting_llama

Hmmm, I see five colors.

Who cares if hearts are overused? As long as the design is an original rendition of a heart, then it shouldn't matter. et al. on this site said the following, which I think applies to this quite well:

"If there's a cult on Threadless, the one with the most steadfast and zealous following is the cult of the bleeding/broken/iheart... This isn't a new idea, it's a spin and I understand that. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel, just putting on a new set of tires. Amen."

Joesmoke

think im gonna cut my own heart out if i see another broken heart tee!

sarahrae

wow everyone is up in arms...

but just checking, is it not 5 colors?

Rahna

Yes, the comments box is for designers to get a good idea of public opinion on their designs. However, it ALSO specifically says, "Note: If you're going to criticize please be constructive and respectful about it." And a lot of critiques are pretty damn far from constructive or respectful. Yeah, I'm sick of broken heart shirts too. And I'll bet there are tons of others even more sick of them than me, who have been around longer and seen more. And we're still not making personal cracks about how lame and what a loser the designer is, speculating about the unattractiveness of the girl who speculatively dumped him for speculative reasons, and using 'fag' as an insult. For crying out loud. I don't think it's npullin who is the loser here.

My critique: The concept is a VERY common one, so it is unlikely to score very well as people have seen so many variations on the same theme. As for the graphic itself, it appears (unless I am mistaken?) to have 5 different colors because of the overlapping places. The size of the heart isn't working for me; it is too large. I like the ends of the scotch tape. In my experience the jagged edges tend to be more uniform in real life, but I don't think that would translate as well to the graphic as the exaggerated jagged edges you've used.

chesire_tabs

I like the shirt...seen it before....but like it. I would buy it.

mechanical_rain

AHAHAHHA.
i laughed at theseshirtslookalike's comment.
quite hilarious.

& that heart..is way overused. i hate the webdings heart.

Spazkake

ow my heart

sigh

vandypunk12

wow. people are shitheads. i like this shirt. its a common theme for a reason.

i like.

Sunil-oolala

size if reduced a little, looks better. overall a nice concept

thelola

wow. everyone should calm down.

i love it.

dropowtt

wow, this one's got a lot of huge comments.

i like the tape effect, unfortunately i'm pretty sure it uses 5 colors...

Poor_Phineas

Nice design, especially nice use of colors (I count four colors plus background color, sarahrae).

As mentioned, "broken heart" designs are fairly common.

i beat SARS

I just don't feel that this design was true to the artist. I refuse to believe that he came up with this topic on his own without the help of The Used or My Chemical Romance. This isn't original and it isn't art.

new__noise

there's a difference between constructive criticism and straight up verbal abuse.

i give it a 3.

lupinower

um, i don't understand why people just started ranting and raving. jesus christ, its a shirt design. go get a livejournal and piss and moan about your problems/views there. normal people don't want to hear it. we've got better things to do then having to scroll through your ignorant comments.

i like the design. it might be a little overdone, but it's cute. i like the scotch tape idea. maybe if you applied the same concept to another design, that's be just awesome. good job. :}

glamour

If somethings going to be a crap design in general, it should at least be clever.

And yes I am fully aware that I have no subs. But I'm here to rate/buy the tees, not design them.

Dancey

Don't usually leave comments but this T is a bag'o'crap

Cattrin

I don't like the concept... but your design talent would be great otherwise. You added the scotch tape... which hasn't been seen before. Sorry to say... it doesn't revolutionise the concept. However, it proves you have some ability to atleast try and re-work a tired theme. Rather than start from what other people have done, start on something new and original (hard to do... since there are so many ideas already taken). I have a fealing you have enough creative juice in ya. ;) Knock on the sky and listen to the sound. Throw some random idea out there... and see how it shapes up. I'll be keeping my eyes out.

loveisforsukkers

wow
i like the concept
but its too big and the heart is ugly
