Pre-Loved! A HUGE new design challenge!!

What does pre-loved mean to you? Is it the left over pizza from last night’s dinner that is now this morning’s breakfast? The baby blanket from your childhood that you’ve passed down to your nephew? Perhaps a vintage article of clothing?

Your challenge for this Loves is to show us what “pre-loved” means to you!

If we love what you show us, you could soon be driving your very own VW CPL vehicle! That's right, Volkswagen is giving you the chance to nab a Volkswagen Certified Pre-Loved vehicle! We’re picking 2 designers for this one! A US designer has a chance at the car and an international designer could nab an amped up Threadless awesome bag!

The over 18 part is because most contests can't be won by a minor (especially not with a prize worth as much as a car).

Maybe you could design something and have an over 18 person submit it, and then just have them sell you the car for $1.

was Glennz design pulled due to VW copyright issues? If so this worlds gone mad VW should be proud for us to reinterpret its iconic design on shirts it only helps to reinforce its presence in the car market and in history! So much for "the peoples car" - Peace Maaaaan!

This really bugs me! (Pun intended) my first ever car was a beetle, my best ever car wasn't even a car it was a 69 VW kombi van. Both were unquestionably pre-loved and I'm sure are still loved to this day.

If you can't use a VW in a VW competition when can you use one? Should they be left to rust in our memories on a sunset beach with the surf culture or go up in smoke with the hippie generation? Should they be reserved for Hollywood movies or sneaky appearances on Beatles album covers (Abbey Rd) or can we please reinstate them back into popular culture in true Threadless fashion and give some much deserved love back to these pre-loved icons?
Please Volkswagen loosen up and let us show our pre-love for the love-bug!

just wondering for the winner of the preloves how much would that person have to pay in taxes for the car? a few people were asking me, but I wasn sure since it's a winning prize and also not 100% abotu the cost of the vehicle, any estimates?

If I'm not mistaken (after reading the rules) I believe they give you an amount (up to a certain maximum) to put towards a car of your choice within your area.

Winner’s Vehicle selection will be based on such dealer’s then current dealer inventory of CPO vehicles with a listed sticker price of up to $15,000 USD. Standard and optional equipment (and other specifics) will vary by vehicle to be determined by VWGoA and/or dealer, and are subject to availability. The difference, if any, between $15,000 USD and the actual listed sticker price of the selected Vehicle will not be awarded in cash. Vehicle will be delivered with the standard and optional equipment already included with such Vehicle. Vehicle comes with 2-year/24,000 miles Limited Warranty and 24-hour Roadside Assistance. ...
Winner is responsible for all associated dealership and/or vehicle fees including all taxes, tags, title, license, insurance, registration, dealer preparation, applicable taxes, destination and handling charges, and any other fees associated with Vehicle, including any travel and transportation costs not specifically stated herein as being awarded. :-( I am disappointed that only U.S. residents have a chance to win the car. What if the international design is better then the U.S. design. Seems rather unfair.

Don't get me wrong though, it is very generous contest. I mean.. a freaking car...I just don't see why this can't be open to other countries as well.

Let’s see... left hand drive, export tax, registration, freight & insurance just to name a few! I'm sure Threadless have weight it all up and decided it just wasn't feasible. At least they we're honest and up front about it and are offering International artist an additional prize - they could have just picked an American winner and we would be none the wiser!

Ok, I see now that in the main infor section of the constest page it does say 11:59, but in the official rules, in the section 'Timing" it says "The Promotion submission period begins at 10:00 AM Central Time (“CT”) on June 15, 2009 and ends at 12:00 AM CT on July 15, 2009 (“Submission Period”)."

So. Go figure.
