Announcing a prize increase, more $$$ for reprints and the Alumni Club!

Wow, that's a mouthful!

We are now paying out $2,500 for all Threadless designs selected for print! That includes $2,000 cash, a $500 gift certificate which can be redeemed for another $200 cash and exclusive membership to the Threadless Alumni Club!

AND, starting today, we are paying an additional $500 for each time your design is reprinted! That means that if your design is reprinted 8,000,000 times, you could win an addition $4,000,000,000 !!!! Beat that, competition! This does not apply to Type Tees.

As for the Alumni Club, we've always wanted to do cool random stuff for designers that have been selected other than just paying out cash and now we have the ability to do so. When you first win, you will get access to the Alumni Club area in the blog forum, a membership card, a totally sweet Alumni Club medal of honor, an Alumni Club tee shirt, an Alumni Club coffee mug and a fancy Alumni Club mousepad. We plan to offer other awesome stuff for Alumni Club members in the future so stay tuned! And yes, everyone who has been selected in the past will have the opportunity to get all of these goodies.

We'll be sending out a mass email to all past designers in a few weeks with details on how to obtain your package of awesomeness.

Does this go for recently reprinted designs by any chance?

I seem to have bad luck in this area. A couple of weeks after my design was first printed, the prize amount was raised to $2,000. And now, a couple of weeks after my design was reprinted, we get paid for reprints :-p

But regardless, that's awesome!

Tonteau, they'll be still using the same system it doesnt matter how many times you request a re print or how many multiple accounts you have because all they'll do is look at the computers IP address which is an individual address for each computer, it shows up on the every time you connect to the net.

Unless they were using a program that generated IP addresses you cant cheat the system.

Ok, they check ip addresses. So then you email 50 of your mates and get them to vote, too. It's a great idea, but I think it's open to abuse.

ah, gotcha. they can track IPs for that. i'm sure it's the same way they protect against multiple accounts for voting on designs.

I agree chelly about the exclusive blogging area. Having so many winning designers blogging with all of us is one of the really nice things about threadless. If they all leave us for the secret blogging area and post all their cool art in there we'll never see it!! And then it will get lonely out here!

You cannot cheat them. They only print / reprint things that are good. You cannot stuff the ballet on a shit design.

Kerrn, the way we do 12 club subscriptions is just suggest that you use some of your gift certificate for it. We are still going to make that suggestion, but it was never a requirement.

I got retroactively screwed since I submitted two subs - one today and one yesterday. So I have to follow the old agreement of getting 2 grand. But Tom Burns got even more retroactively screwed since he got reprinted like 10 times.

What I like: the increase in prize money, payments for reprints, the alumni yearbook, alumni discounts, alumni tee and mug and all that.

What makes me feel like a 2nd-class citizen here: the alumni-only forum, the purple text, the alumni shield on every post.

So, will non-Alumni people be able to at least see the Alumni blog pages, even if they can't contribute to them?

I understand the idea of separate blog pages for the printed designers, but it would be nice if us aspiring designers could at least see what they're talking about, to glean some hints and tips from their extensive skillz and experience...

Though they'll probably just talk about Teen Wolf and stuff, same as here.

I totally agree with the increase in the price and anything designers can win, but I don´t understand the sudden creation of a 1st class-2nd class threadless users, I assume this is not your intention, but I thinks this is what is going to happen. they should make a sticker of the alumni crest thing that you can put on your car or something. And I think that the threadless stickers that they print now should have a clear background so they look better on the car because I want to put a threadless sticker on my car, but not with the rectangular background it has now
