Hello there, and how are you doing today?
Very well, thanks.

How did you get your start in design?
My first love in graphic art was graffiti. As a kid I was amazed at how you could take basic letterforms as a starting point and warp them into this beautiful mass of shape and color. I played with graffiti on paper for years, and it developed into an understanding and love for type that I don't think I was consciously aware of for a long time. Then, one day in college, my drawing teacher was discussing my use of type in nearly everything I was doing and said "you know what this is? It's graphic design." I said "What's graphic design?"

Hello

What inspires your work?
Other artists, usually. I'm always admiring styles, color palettes, themes, and when I see something I really love it motivates me to get off my ass and create something of my own. Then it's just a matter of sorting through all the current stimulus of my day: a conversation, a book, or just a random thought that I can solidify and turn into something visual.

How does it feel to have a design selected by Threadless?
One Christmas years ago, I got this poseable Evil Knievel figure with a bike that you could wind up and shoot off in a grind of sparks and noise. I was so excited I jumped up and down till my pj-pants fell off. It feels like that.

What do you plan to spend your hard-earned cash on?
The essentials: music, books, Marmite. Maybe I'll look up Evil knievel on ebay.
