Interview by Charles Festa
How did you get your start in design?
Oh this is hard. Well i have always enjoyed drawing and trying to draw and learning to draw, so I guess illustration has always been pretty big in my life. The hard part is trying to give some sort of design purpose to those drawings and make stuff look good on a shirt or a something or whatever. That's what I'm still trying to figure out now. I guess in the end i just stuck with art because everyone told me i was too athletic for sports and too handsome for a career in modeling.
What inspires your work?
Lots of stuff i suppose. Cartoons play a huge role because i hope to someday work in that field. Lately, a lot of old paintings and wacky books i have found at thrift stores have been pretty motivating. I also found an old yearbook from the 70's at my school library so I've been having some fun with all the lovely little faces in there.
How does it feel to have a design selected by Threadless?
Ah man it feels amazing! It's like the opposite of when that alien rips out of that guys stomach in Alien.
