Interview by Charlie Festa

Hello there, and how are you doing today?

I'm doing pretty swell

Sensorslime

How did you get your start in design?

My mom would try to make my brother and me read before we went to bed every night, but I would end up doing little drawings. She tried to make me stop and read, but after a while she realized it was something I enjoyed and wanted to get better. Fast forward to sophomore year of high school I accidentally signed up for a computer graphics class and loved every minute of it. I haven;t really looked back since.

Money Mouse

What inspires your work?

I'm a big pop culture nerd. I watch too many movies and waayy too much TV. I still watch cartoons as much as i can, but they just aren't the same these days

Speedy JVW's Process:

Doodles

I spend too much time in school. So that means i have a lot of time to not listen to teachers (just kidding mom and dad) I have notebooks filled with doodles. A lot of times things start off super simple. maybe just a face or funny idea. and i just draw it about 5 or six times until I'm happy with it. i usually hand draw everything first, then scan it in at a high dpi and trace it in photoshop or illustrator. Depending on the style or technique i used then i decide if i want to bring it into photoshop or illustrator. If i want something loose, or something quick ill do it in photoshop with my drawing tablet, if i want something super clean that im going to spend a lot of time on. from there i just cross my fingers and hope it scores well!
