How do Gift Certificates work?
PLEASE NOTE: Gift certificates are NOT sent in the mail. After purchasing you will be given instructions for either emailing the gift certificate to the recipient or printing it on your printer for giving.

About Gift Certificates
Threadless.com Gift Certificates are a perfect gift! Gift certificates may be emailed to the recipient through our website or printed to give. Gift certificates are available in $25, $50, and $100 amounts.

How To Purchase
Gift Certificates are available for purchase from the Gift Certificate page.

How To Redeem
Gift Certificates work the same way as coupons. In step 1 of the Check Out process, the recipient may enter the unique Gift Certificate code in the coupon / gift certificate field. The code will be written on the certificate in the email notification or on the printed gift certificate. If you're having any problems redeeming your gift certificate, please email us. We will not be able to apply a gift certificate to your purchase after it is completed .

How To Give?
During the checkout, enter your email address so you can receive the email confirmation. Once you place the order, you will be given the option to either print out the gift certificate and give it to the recipient or enter their email address and have the gift certificate emailed to them. Do not enter the recipient's email address during checkout or they will receive your order confirmation!

How long are the gift certificates good for?
Gift certificates do not have an expiration date and can be used at any time.

Can I use the gift certificate incrementally?
Yes, the gift certificate may be used for multiple orders. For example, if you have a $25 gift certificate and only use $20 of it, the additional $5 can be used at a later date .

Are the gift certificates refundable?
No, all gift certificates are non-refundable.

Will I be sent a physical gift certificate?
No, our gift certificates are electronic. The gift certificate codes are sent via email, but they can be printed.If you forwarded the gift certificate to the recipient, but they did not receive it, send us an email at service@threadless.com and we can show you how to resend the gift certificate email.
How do I place my order online?
It's quite simple really!
  1. Browse through the site until you find the item you wish to purchase.

  2. From the product page select the size you would like to buy. You can click 'Checkout' to place your order or 'Keep Shopping' to add the shirt to your cart and keep shopping for more.

    You may also add items to your cart from the Stock Chart.

  3. Once you've added all the items that you wish to purchase to your cart, you can begin the checkout process. This process involves 4 steps; Verify Your Order, Shipping Information, Billing Information and Place Your Order. You will then receive an order confirmation email. When your order has been shipped, you will receive a final email stating so.


Shirts are only held for you once you place an order. Adding a shirt to your cart does not guarantee that you will be able to purchase it at a later date. If the shirt you want sells out before you proceed through checkout, a notice will pop up in step 2 of checkout and the item will be removed from your cart.
Is the site secure?
Any personal information given to Threadless.com will be protected. Your information will not be disclosed to any third parties. Threadless.com's server will secure your personal information with up-to-date firewall and encryption techniques during the ordering process.

In order to protect customers to the fullest extent, Threadless does not store your credit card information at any time.

To assist you in recognizing secure areas of the Threadless.com website, a small lock icon will appear in the lower right-corner of your web browser. When this icon is present, and in the locked position, you know that information on that page will be secured.

Added online security to protect your personal information from unauthorized use is provided by using advanced SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption.
Can I track my order status?
If you have a user account and was logged in when you placed your order, you can track your order status by logging in and accessing the My Account link from the site header. All orders placed under your username will be visible on the right side of the page.

You can also go to www.threadless.com/orderstatus and enter your order# , email address, and billing zip. Make sure to enter your zip just as you entered it when you placed the order. If you did not enter your billing zip in the zip field during checkout, you can leave this blank.
How do I use a coupon or gift certificate?
You can enter a coupon or gift certificate code during the first step of the checkout process. Under the shopping cart, there is a field to enter a coupon code or gift certificate code. You can only enter one code per order. If you have more than one gift certificate and would like to use them at once, email our customer service and we can combine them into one usable code for you. When you use a coupon or gift certificate, the amount will be deducted from the order total. If there is a balance, the amount will remain on the coupon or gift certificate code to be used on future orders.
How can I pay for my order?
Threadless only accepts Credit or Debit Cards for payment
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Only Debit Cards backed by a Credit Card company listed above (Visa, Mastercard, etc) can be accepted. We do not accept Switch, Electron, Maestro and some other international debit cards. Our website features an SSL secure connection during the transaction keeping your information secure and private. Please note that the charge on your statement will appear "Threadless.com".
How can I make changes to my order?
You can cancel your order and place it again if you need to make changes to it. Go to www.threadless.com/orderstatus and enter your order#, email address, and billing zip. Make sure to enter your zip just as you entered it when you placed the order. If you did not enter anything in this field during checkout, you can leave this blank.

Once you pull up your order, you will be given the option to cancel. Your card or payment option will be reimbursed and you can go ahead and place another order.

If you aren't able to pull up your order, you can also send changes to service@threadless.com. Changes can only be made if your request is answered before your order is processed. Depending on demand, we may or may not be able to make your requested change. Once your order is processed or shipped, no changes can be made.
I placed my order, but forgot to add a tee. How can I add it to my order?
We're sorry but we're unable to add to your order since we don't store credit card information. You will have to place a new order for the additional shirt.

You can also cancel your order and place it again. Go to www.threadless.com/orderstatus and enter your order#, email address, and billing zip. Make sure to enter your zip just as you entered it when you placed the order. If you did not enter anything in this field during checkout, you can leave this blank.

Once you pull up your order, you will be given the option to cancel.
How do street team points work?
Points are given for submitting a photo to the gallery or linking to Threadless and referring a sale. 1 point is awarded for photos and 2 points for referrals. Points are awarded on a per order basis, not per tee. The referral must be placed using the URL: www.threadless.com/?streetteam=YOURUSERNAME.

If the link is not used, the points will not be awarded. For more information, visit our street team section: www.threadless.com/streetteam.

You will not be awarded points for placing orders using your own link.

All street team points must be used at once. Once you use your street team points, the balance is set back at zero.
How do I become a Threadless vendor?
You should check out our vendor section: www.threadless.com/vendors .We have a very strict verification process for vendors. All vendors must complete the necessary paperwork and be approved by us before becoming a qualified vendor. Once your vendor status is approved, you will be able to order at the vendor price with a minimum order of 24 items.
Can I combine orders?
No, we are unable to combine orders. Each order you place will be sent separately.
What are Select tees?
Select tees are commissioned by leaders in the field of design. Also, any Threadless designer who wins the competition 4 or more times will be invited to design a Threadless Select tee! The Select line is a way to put well known designers side-by-side with up-and-comers

Select tees are an exclusive, anything-goes tee shirt canvas. You can find all Select tees by going to the Full Catalog and browsing by the Select line.
Can I stop by your warehouse and get shirts?
You can definitely stop by our warehouse to pick up shirts! We are here 9 to 5 Monday thru Friday and are located at 4043 N Ravenswood Suite 106. No need to place an order. You stop by, pick out what tees you want online, and pay for them here. We don't accept cash, so you'll need to bring a credit card.
I've tried checking my order status online and it won't work.
To check your order status, go to www.threadless.com/orderstatus. You will need to enter your order number, email address, AND billing zip used to place the order.

Please make sure to enter everything correctly and it will pull up your order information. Also make sure to enter your zip just as you entered it when you placed the order. If you did not enter your billing zip in the zip field during checkout, you can leave this blank. If you entered your city or other information in this field, be sure to enter that info instead of your zip.

Do not include any extra spaces or characters. If you do, it will not recognize your info and will not be able to pull up your order.

You can also enter the name on the order and the first four and last four digits of the credit card used to place the order to look up your order information.
Is it true my street team points get set back to zero after I apply them to an order?
Yes. When you apply street team points to an order, your balance is set back to zero points. If you have more street team points than your order total, you will not receive those points back.
I emailed service@threadless.com several times and haven't received a response! Why won't someone email me?
Likely we did receive your email and have already responded. Some emails providers mark our emails as spam or completely block them. Check your spam folder to see if our response is there. If possible, send from a different email address.

During sales or high demand, our customer service can be a bit backed up. If you sent an email and haven't heard back from us, wait a week before sending a second inquiry.
Can I change the username on my Threadless account?
Sorry, but you can't change your username. You will need to cancel your current account and sign up for a new one. After you login, go to your account page and there is an option to cancel your account. Please note: all stats will be lost if you cancel your account.
I placed an order, but I don't have my order number. Can I look it up?
You bet! You can go to www.threadless.com/orderstatus and enter the name on the order and the first four and last four digits of the credit card used to place the order to look up your order information. Enter the numbers altogether and do not include any spaces like the example below

If I use Street Team Points and a Gift Certificate to place an order, which is applied first?
If you are using both points and a coupon/gift certificate in an order, the gift certificate will be applied to the order first. The points will then be applied to the order and set to zero.
Can I change the size or address of my 12 Club Subscription?
Of course! If you need to change your address, email us your order# and your updated address. Make sure to do it before the month's shirt is shipped or it may be sent to your old address. If you don't update your address and your order is lost because it was going to an old address, we will not be able to replace it. Be sure to keep us updated so you get every month's shirt!

We can also change the size shirt in your subscription. Email us your order number and what size you would like your future shirts to be. Again, make sure to do it before the month's shirt is shipped or you may get the wrong size again.
Do you accept Paypal as a form of payment?
Unfortunately we have no immediate plans to offer PayPal as a payment option. PayPal is not supported by our merchant account and also does not offer the level of fraud protection we require. However if you have a PayPal debit card, we do accept those. The Paypal debit card acts like a debit card from your bank, but instead of debiting the money from your bank account, it debits from your Paypal account or backup source. If you want to use your Paypal account to order and don't have this card, you should check it out. Just login to your Paypal account and click on 'Products and Services' and go to the link for the Paypal Debit Card.

Accepting payments straight from your Paypal account is not an option currently, but may change sometime in the future. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Can I place an order online and pick it up at your warehouse?
If you place an order online, it must be shipped. If you want to pick up your order, you can come into our warehouse and place an order here for pick up. We are located at 4043 N Ravenswood Suite 106 Chicago, IL and are here Monday thru Friday 9am to 5pm. We accept the same forms of payment for walk-ins as we do on the site. Sorry, no cash.
Why are some designs on Threadless Custom tees and some aren't?
We started printing the Threadless Custom shirts because we haven't been totally satisfied with the shirts we have used in the past. The sizing of the Custom Tees is similar to our previous shirts and takes into consideration feedback we have received from the community. The Kids Custom sizing is more accurate to what we've seen in the industry.

We are currently working towards printing all Threadless Custom shirts and phasing out American Apparel and Fruit of the Loom. On every product page, there will be a note indicating what type of tee the design is printed on along with a link to the size chart until all shirts are on Threadless Custom.

The sizing is a bit different for each brand. Check out our size chart so you can see the difference in sizes and find out which size is right for you!
What is a special order?
If a design has been especially popular in its first week, we may choose to print another edition to satisfy the demand. It is then considered a special order item.

If you special order a design, it should take about 4-6 weeks for the item to ship. Keep in mind, this does not include the delivery time. If you purchase other items with a special order item, your other items will be shipped as normal and will not be delayed. Your card will be charged when you place your order, not when the special order item is shipped. There is no additional shipping charge.

The special order feature was introduced to ensure anyone who wants a new design in its first week will be able to get it. We think special people deserve special orders. It also allows the designer to make an additional $500 immediately on a reprint while the demand is high.

    How much will shipping cost me?
    Costs vary based on ship location, the weight of the items in your order and the ship method chosen. To determine the cost of shipping, simply add the items you wish to order to your cart, proceed to step 2 and fill out your shipping address, then proceed to step 3 to see your shipping costs. In step 3 you will see how much it will cost you to ship with all available shipping methods without having to place an order.

    Can I track my shipment?
    Only UPS Ground, 2 Day, and Next Day orders have tracking numbers. As of right now, international orders do not have a tracking system. We are working on introducing an international shipping option with tracking capabilities. Hopefully it will be available in the near future.
    I haven't received my order yet!
    If you have received a shipping confirmation email, than yes, your order has been shipped from our warehouse.

    My tracking number isn’t working! Why?
    Likely your order was just shipped. Tracking numbers can take up to 72 hours to be updated. Check back in 24 hours and the information should be updated.
    Why was my order charged at customs fee when it was delivered?
    Any international order may incur a customs fee. This is also mentioned in the third step of the checkout process. This fee is being charged by your government, not Threadless.com. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we have no control over the customs authorities in your country or any other. Contact your local customs office for more information about customs fees and duty taxes.

    If I choose Next Day or 2 Day shipping, when will I get my order?
    For express domestic orders, we do offer UPS Next Day and UPS 2 Day shipping. UPS Next Day will arrive the next business day after the ship date. UPS 2 Day will arrive 2 business days after the ship date.

    Some processing time may apply. For the most part, express orders will be shipped within 3 business days from the date the order is placed.

    UPS 2 Day and Next Day deliveries are only made during the business week. Deliveries will NOT be made on Saturday or Sunday or holidays. If an order is shipped Friday UPS Next Day, it will arrive on Monday. If that Monday is a holiday, it will arrive on Tuesday.
    Why did I get charged tax?
    Only Canadian orders are charged an additional tax along with the shipping fee.

    With Global Mail Innovations, we have to claim orders when they cross the Canada border and pay the duties and customs fees. The charge is added on to your order in the form of a tax. The good news is when you receive your order, you will not have to pay any additional fees. If you are asked to, let us know.
    How does Mail Innovations work?
    With the domestic Mail Innovations option, UPS picks up your order from our warehouse, sorts it, applies the necessary postage, and sends it to USPS. The delivery will be made by your local post office, not UPS so this option is used for PO Boxes and APO addresses.

    Mail Innovations is similar to First Class mail. It typically takes 5-8 days to be delivered, but can take up to a couple weeks. If you don't have your order after 3 weeks from the ship date, let us know.
    How does Global Mail Innovations work?
    With the Global Mail Innovations option, UPS picks up your order from our warehouse. UPS then sorts the mail, applies the necessary postage, and handles the order until it reaches your country. Once the order arrives in your country, it is handed off to your local post office for delivery. UPS does not deliver the order.

    Economy Mail Innovations should take 1-3 weeks to be delivered and Priority Mail Innovations typically takes 5-10 days. International orders (Priority or Economy) can encounter numerous delays while in transit, so it is possible for international orders to take up to 5 weeks to be delivered. The ship times given are estimates and not guaranteed.

    Who designs the Threadless product?
    You do!

    Threadless.com is an on-going tee shirt design competition, anyone can submit their design and if it gets a high enough score and is chosen by the Threadless crew it will be printed and sold from the site.

    Most of the product found on Threadless is a result of the competition. A few of the shirts were printed outside of the contest, some of which were comissioned by Threadless to various well-known designers.
    Why are you out of stock of a particular item?
    Threadless keeps very limited quantities of shirts in stock. We do this for many reasons.

    1. We want these tees to be limited edition.

    2. We want focus on introducing new shirts into our stock rather than restocking old designs.


    If a design you really like is out, you can request a reprint.
    Washing Instructions?
    The instructions are as follows:
    Machine wash cold. Wash dark colors separately. Use non-chlorine bleach only if needed. Tumble dry low. Do not iron decoration. Do not dry clean if decorated.

    If the shirt was printed using specialty inks- Glow in the Dark, Foil, Felt, etc, washing inside out helps preserve the print.

    The tees are primarily 100% cotton shirts so expect some shrinkage. To lessen this, try hang drying your tees.
    How does a reprint request work?
    Reprint requests don't happen on an individual basis. We only reprint designs after they receive a certain amount of requests from all of the users. If we ever reprint one of your requested tees you will receive an email stating so. Some designs you have requested may never be reprinted, but make sure you're signed up for the Threadless.com newsletter so you can be notified if and when reprints happen.
    Why do some tees cost more?
    The price varies based on the complexity of the design and printing processes used to create it.
    What is your policy on returns?
    At Threadless.com we want you to love what you order. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, please return the item(s) for an exchange, refund or credit.

    All returns must be in the original condition that you received them in. We do NOT accept back washed items. If a washed item is returned, we will refuse it and ask you to pay to have it returned to you.

    Please fill out the return form on the back of the invoice that was shipped along with your package. Indicate what you are returning and why. Please let us know if you would like in return whether it be an exchange, refund or Threadless credit.

    All returns must be made within 60 days of placing your orders. We do not accept returns or exchanges after the 60 day period.

    In order to process your return, please include your name, email address and order number along with the items that you are returning.

    What should I do if I no longer have the return form?
    You can get a copy of the return form here: www.threadless.com/service/returnpolicy.pdf . Please be sure to include your order number, your email address, and the email address of whoever placed the order if they're different.
    The item I received was defective or incorrect. Do I have to pay to ship it back to you?
    If you received the wrong item or if the item is defective, we will reimburse you for the cost of shipping the item back to us. Please send the item back regular mail and include your receipt with the return. We will not reimburse for express shipping. We also cannot refund the original shipping cost.
    I sent back a return, but haven't heard anything back.
    Returns can take 1-2 weeks to be processed once we receive them. When your return is processed, we will send you a notification email. Check your spam folder to make sure the notification didn't get marked as spam.

    How do I score submissions?
    To score submissions, you simply need to join the Threadless community, navigate to the 'score submissions' section and begin scoring. Score each shirt on a scale of 0-5 (0 being bad). The system will keep track of which shirts you have scored so when you come back you will be all ready to score new designs. There is also a checkbox when scoring to 'promise to buy'. This is just another tool we use to gauge the response to the tees. We will not FORCE you to actually purchase it if it wins.
    How are the winning submissions chosen?
    We look at the top 300 designs every couple of weeks and pick out around 10 designs that we want to print based off of the designs score, comments, and the number of i'd buy it's. Ultimately the decision of which shirts get printed are left up to us. The scoring system helps give us a general idea of which designs our customers want.

    By submitting a photo to the photo gallery, you may win a free tee. We pick a user every now and then from those who have submitted photos to receive a FREE tee !
    How do I submit a tee design and what do I win?
    How to submit
    Everyone in the World is welcome to submit a tee design, join the Threadless community and click the submit link. From here you will be able to read all of the instructions and download templates. When you are done designing, you can return to that page and use the form to submit your design.

    If you followed all of the rules and specifications, your design will be posted on the site to be voted on by the threadless community. It will stay posted for 7 days and then the results will be tabulated. If it is among the top scoring shirts, it may be chosen to be printed.

    PRIZES !?
    If your design is chosen, you will receive a cash prize and a gift certificate to purchase some of your shirts. You will also be mentioned on the website and may become famous! Note that as the site grows we hope to be able to offer the winners more :)
    Who made Threadless and why?
    Threadless was created by Jake Nickell and Jacob DeHart. They came up with the idea after Jake Nickell won the NMUF London tee shirt competition. It felt good to win a tee shirt competition and we thought it'd be cool to extend that to the level that Threadless has become.

    The two Threadless Jakes met on dreamless.org a while back. They both are web developers who live in Chicago and love tee shirts and posters.
    What is skinnyCorp?
    skinnyCorp is the company that Jake Nickell and Jacob DeHart started for Threadless to run under.
    Is there a Threadless store?
