I originally drew this in May and just updated it today. I want to see more depictions of female heroes, so this space princess is ready to save the day from whoever attacks (rather than waiting around to be saved). Six colors on charcoal.
I really like this. However a wise shield bearing Threadless veteran once told me that adding an 'interaction' to any piece automatically raises its value. If the princess is in space with a ray gun she should be pointing it at something or someone. Perhaps she could be wielding her sceptre like a light sabre too? Just a couple of thoughts.
I hate to spam but a design of mine is up for scoring and could use a vote if you have a minute Unwind your mind Thanks
asurumaage - Thanks, and adding another celestial element is a thought. A moon would probably be overwhelming, but a planet might work out.. I will play with that. I'll check out your designs in just a bit!
Wharton - That makes a lot of sense, thank you for passing along the wisdom! I liked the idea of having what she was pointing at being open-ended, but I can see how the design itself would be more appealing with an actual target. I'm disinclined to go with a light saber effect for the scepter (that reads too immediately as Star Wars and I prefer not to have that specific of a reference unless there's a purpose), but perhaps I could have it charging with energy or something else. Thank you for your input ^_^ I will drop by to vote in a moment!
looks cool but i dnt think too much purple will match most purple or other bright colors will match most tshirt colors. you should experiment more colors ! the design and everything else is fine xD
richeyrichards - I'm pretty set on my ink colors, but you're right that the design doesn't work on most shirt colors - that's mostly due to the way I handled shading (letting the shirt color show through), as a lighter shirt won't have that come across as dark. Thanks for the comments! Just dropped by your design ^_^
shahu13 - Thanks! I am still working through improving the design itself, so this layout isn't intended for voting purposes - I mostly just wanted to show the other color shirts I was considering. Just voted on your designs.
Changes include giving the tentacle a wormhole opening to come out of (rather than just scribbling off the end to imply a much larger alien), adding a few more stars, adding a burst from the ray gun, and changing a bit of the shading on the guy's leg.
Aha! This is well funky! I really like it! I love the shadows in the grey colour on the purple clothes, and the overall idea is just ace. I don't think there's anything I could critique; the stars instead of planets in the background give the idea of being in space without distracting from the two figures, so that was well done :)
The crown and little staff she's holding gives me the impression she's a princess and the fact that she's saving a simpleton guy with no fancy crown gives the scene a story to it, too :) That might not be the case but that's my interpretation :)
Well done, give it a bash and submit it !!
Hey, its been a while since I saw this piece. I really like the wormhole tentacle, really gives the scene some energy. Can't wait to see the next version!
