This is looking great! As a nice touch of color and awesome Office Space reference, I'd add a red swingline stapler to the items on the desk. It's obvious who the character with the coffee is, but no so much the one at the desk. with the wide body shape of the star, even if you envisioned him as the lead, he looks more like the one who only wanted his red swingline. Just a thought. Good luck!! I also love the coloring outside the lines. I've playing with that idea on a design I'm working on. Think that would be cool for the stapler as well. .

Yeah I had his head lowered as if he's upset to hear his boss' news. Do you think it would be better to have him looking at his boss rather than lowered?
