i think the idea has great merit, but dont think its going to work with so much print...especially stock fonts...perhaps if you got a picasso and overlay a banksy image and then finally overlay an image of your own concealing most of the other two images...and to emphasize that your stealing perhaps your image could be a morphed combination of the other two images.
this would also play on what happens with taging where tags are constantly painted over...stealing the space as it were

I think this needs some work but I love the idea! I would change the font used for the quote (and check the spelling) and maybe put the design on a red t-shirt? ...Or a light blue t-shirt?

Hi!! Thanks for the feedback!! I agree that the font needs working and I think I know how to deal with that - and I was thinking of getting the "ME" in a piece style rather than a simple tag. So my ideal is to sort of see this in a museum and work the elements around that - @ coppersmith - I like your idea about the various paintings on top of each other but I think the message will be lost - I'm learning that on Threadless, the point/message of the tee must be uber clear. cheers though

I love the idea! But your not quite there. I just have to agree with most of the comments above. Fonts aren't working here, if you some how could make it with less text you would have my vote. I like prints that speak for them self so you have to think about it for a while. I hope you make it interesting because the idea is brilliant

Can try to take out the blue floor, and replace it with a patch of shadow. See how it turns out.

typography is not ok. Try with other fonts (you can check out some blog posts around the web, with articles about modern free fronts).

The idea is very good.

I would definitely push the typography aspect a bit more. Right now it looks like you threw the text into Word and hit "skew." Try a few different fonts and compare them. The forced perspective might not work with the text.

I like how the image is broken up by the blue bottom and I like your figure there.

This is how it's progressing for the moment - I've taken the actual stone that BANKSY had the quote engraved in and did a vector illustration with it so that the quote is bound to a form of art work. I'm now working on morphing a picasso/banksy ala me drawing to add ontop of the woman to give it a more museum feel.

The stone looks more like a hole. You may want to try switching the light gray on the side and the black.

Thanks for your comment on my work! I think that this is a really cool idea but work on the stone. Maybe give it more depth and different planes on the side and change the color of the front, maybe to a dark gray.

Perhaps if the stone was visibly resting on something rather than floating above the ground, it would aid the viewer in addressing it as a stone rather than a hole.

This has really improved. Nice job. The stone definitely looks like a hole, and although that's not what your going for (so I guess you may need to change it) I actually think it looks cool that way. The new shirt colour is much better too.

Hi again... so I keep the black stone as it didn't stand out enough when I tried it in black, however to remove the whole in the wall illusion I stood it on a column. I also made the graffiti artist bigger in this version as I though she was dwarfed in the previous one... I like this version... I think I'm gonna play around with a different way of presenting it as I'm not convinced just using a model is best .. Any thoughs??

I hate to also be "that" guy, but I liked the idea behind version #1 a bit better. This version is a bit hard to read. However, I like your color choices and you have a better font selection.

I like the colors on this one. And i think this is better than the first one. but maby you could make the sign bigger so that you focus more on the quote?

I'm thinking of going back to the original wall theme, it seems that the font issue is better - I'm adding a stencil outline to make appear as if someone spray painted the quote followed by Pablo's signature and BANKSY's tag in similar themes and then the Graffiti girl crossing them out and writing "ME"

Back to square one - well kinda, I went back to the concept of V1 where she's writing on the wall, but choose a better font (in my opinion) and gave it a graffiti stencil feel by having spray paint at the edges of the writing in much the same way BANKSY does his graffiti. Thoughts, opinions comment and HELP well appreciated and welcomed..... Cheers

this last version is def the best one. it's clearer and more concise. also the color scheme used is much more appealing than the first three. great concept!

Interesting design. Have you seen the movie Exit through the Gift Shop, i think you'd love it if you haven't seen it yet. I might consider changing the text up top, but its up to you. My design just finished critique Winter Buffalo please let me know if you like

perhaps you are saying too much in this design?... i think the girl should be graffiti-ing the main quote on the wall, no need for the Banksy or Picasso or "me" reference, these are all inferred by the design. great concept!

I might be saying too much but I think the joke lies within the crossing out of names and by adding "me" the wearer of the shirt has stolen and now owns this idea - I appreciate the comment - but sticking to the original idea.

And I have seen exist through the gift shop - I'm a big Banksy fan, even had the chance of seeing his work around London and Bristol and saw his exhibition at the Art Museum of Bristol!!

II love what you have done so far, though i think the like blue wall texture is hard to see, maybe use a red brick wall to fill in the emptyness of the background, and i think youll be there, I hope that help :)

I dont think you need the quote to be so big and bold.. maybe there could be a way for you to make it flow into the background. also id use a better font.

Good point about the "the" the actual translation between Spanish to English doesn't need it, Banksy probably kept cause he used google translate - or maybe making a point. To be honest the translation has annoyed me, so next version will loss it (glad you like the vector drawing - still new to this but youtube is a good teacher)

again.. got rid of the texture - it was too subtle and with the repositioning of things it was also unneeded. Also shorted the quote - so it's a tad smaller - don't know what else might be helpful.... Thinking on working on presentation any thoughts??

I think you need some "art" for you character to be stealing. As if she's in a gallery or stealing a famous painting that's been plagued already.

Put Picassos name in the same stencil as the quote maybe? Like in v4. I liked that better, but that's my opinion. It's better this way without the texture.
No good ideas for a presentation, but I'm sure you will come up with something

@ OHea - the art stealing idea went of the window when people began to say that they preferred the writing on the wall style - so I'm going with it in this style... the stolen art idea I'll put on the next tee

there's a picasso quote that says 'great artists have no country', where he meant they don't have patriotic allegiance syndrome. But heres an idea for a shirt on the theme:
An airport immigration arrivals hall, with three signs, 'citizens, visitors, and artists.. with lines of people at the first two booths, and just picasso in his smok at the last line... for 'hail to the thief', i think the girl could be walking out of a museum with paintings stuffed into her LV purse, wearing a beret to indicate she's also an artist that happens to be a kleptomaniac.
Or maybe a portrait of winona ryder as an artist...
Or how about this, a scene with several 'great artists' around a table planning a heist. On the table you could show a map to a bank vault. hehe.

I think this needs some more work. Loosen up some and keep it simple.

Just saw your response...thats so sweet you got to see his stuff, I only saw the movie and I loved it. When you say you saw his stuff in london and bristol do you mean in addition to the exhibit you saw his work on the streets?

I like how you changed the text up top. I like how the top text looks like its at an angle, maybe make the other tags the same so it looks like the wall is being looked at from an angle.
