Try making the fold-over of the tear 2 or 3 times wider and drop the superman logo down about 3 or 4 inches.

Cotton doesnt quite have the frays when you rip it, its actually pretty smooth and should point downward rather than straightout to the side. The way you have it now looks good though, if youre going for stylized instead of 'realistic' :) good luck

Great Idea! One thing I'd suggest is to have the t-shirt in black or any color that would contrast with the superman suit so it really pops. I know this has already been mention, but the ripe need work, maybe if it's a little smaller and simplified. Or use a photograph of a ripped shirt edge then photoshop it to fit your artwork.

This design is adequately executed. Maybe clean up the red outline. I agree a different color shirt might be nice. Its success mostly depends on whether or not people will vote for it, which is pretty much impossible to predict.

Pretty awesome.
Maybe try it without instructions, also try to change the tee color.
If you think that without instructions it's just not right, fix up those lines and try to add here some texture.

I think the tear needs more work.. It doesn't look very believable, I think the shading is too strong and the shapes too irregular. Like the concept though.

Here's what you can do next:
- leave it as it is - with that comic book feeling
or
- make it photo-like, I mean the rip.

One's eye should focus both on Superman logo and rip.
Right now the black outline competes with the logo... a bit :)

and yeah, you can change the tee colour but not necessarily :)

Love the concept, but I agree that the rip is a bit overdone.
Too many torn flaps I think, and too much overlap. If you fold all of those flaps back, there would be too much material.

I don't think it needs to be photo-realistic, but less exaggerated and no heavy black outline might be better. Maybe the kind of torn edge you get from tearing a piece of paper?

I'm still having trouble making a realistic, fabric rip/tear as many of you have said. I'm currently using CS5 and am yet to find any sort of tutorial that gives the effect I'm after. Think of torn clothes of the hulk cartoons or off Dragon ball Z; that's what I'm after.

If anyone has links to any vectors or tutorials or even knows how to do this sort of thing in photoshop, help would be much appreciated as I'm still quite amateur with the program and graphic designing in general

Also, I'd like to add folds or ripples to parts of the shirt to add to the 3D effect, but have no clue how to achieve it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I sord of disagree with the whole removing the text input from so many of the comments I've read. I do think the text is a little big too in your face....you could simplify this by making reallyr really small letters along the dotted line vertically. Also I would make the dotted lines smaller and have more of them.

I also think the black outline isnt really working very well here, it does give the comic book feeling but I think its a little bit too thick and makes it go from comic bookish to just coloring bookish. You could try either removing it or making it thinner. I would take the suggestion mentioned above to make it photo realistic.

I think its a pretty good idea you got here, if it were me I'd go with the photorealistic...take a picture of an actually ripped tshirt and apply it...see how that goes. Good luck.

Try a different shirt color, it just seems too overwhelming with white do possibly grey or something other than the white, great job though it has come a long way, to get rid of that flowery effect on the rips just thin out the lines on them they black seems to over power the white so it gives the rips a very thick heavy feel and petal feel. Great job just a little more work and you will be ready to sub this baby!!!!!

Just so everyone knows, the text and sign is central to the concept so I'm not removing it. The idea is that its a play on an emergency sign or 'In emergency break glass' kind of thing. When there's an emergency, F*** the alarm! Rip the shirt n get superman to save us! Without the text it would lose the concept and any cleverness that might go with it.

I very much appreciate any criticism to help improve the look of the sign, but there has to be a sign with those words on the front of the shirt

Looks really good! The only thing i would think would look better fixed is if the border of the warning was a darker red. I dunno i think it could look better that way. Brilliant concept :)

I think its a great idea. But I don´t really like the style of the tearing. I think that the elements of the design do not really fit together in one style. Try to work aon this and you´ll get a faboulous submission...

This is a really cool idea! My only suggestion would be to get an actual shirt, rip it just as u have it in this design, take a photo of it THEN incorporate it into the design. Afterwards, SUBMIT! :) Good job!

i can see the tear is difficult to illustrate. maybe you can use a package tear (like ups/fedex envelopes) might be easier to represent without the use of shading.

it really getting better maybe add black gradient on the super man shirt near the edge , think it will get more realistic effect . and really don't need the doth line and the phrase, it really obvious .great work :)

just a question :the dotted line arrive to the bottom.
maybe the "s" is positioned much on the top.

The dotted line will go right to the bottom, as seen in previous versions, I only zoomed in this far so you could see detail in the rip

AWESOME idea! i actually think the ripping detail could be simplified with less details so as to match the fiction feel =) but it looks pretty good as it is!
