Cast a shadow underneath where the top ring meets the cylinder. You could even bend the shadow on his face from the pen so his mouth doesn't look so flat. Either that change the ears so they don't appear to be placed on a 3d object.

The shirt color choice looks good. The title could be improved. I think I preferred the Pin-Oh-Chio joke. Maybe something to do with Some Day I'll Be A Real Push Pin.

push the shadow up a bit. it looks like it's floating off the ground slightly at the mo.

also - if you think about where the shadow of the pin is being cast on the face, it should not be not directly below and central. The shadow cast by the pin on the face and the one on the 'floor' is the same shadow just on different surfaces. it should 'meet' at the point where it drops off the face where the plane of the face intersects with the floor.

That's probably an overly-complicated way of saying move the pin (nose) shadow slight to the left so it starts at the point where it falls off the face.
