This is a design I did quite a while ago but recently resurrected for class. I am a big fan of the asymmetrical placement on the shirt. Let me know what you would consider changing.

The reason I want the lines in is because the lines around the moon are what keep the eye circling the image after they leave the detail of the girl.

That was intentional to set her apart form the dreamesque tree but if it is too distracting I might loosen her up a bit.

I think it would work better if the tree was a bit more... tree-like. The woman is very realistic, so maybe the tree & smileys should be too..?

Here is a reworked version of the shirt. I know it took a long time... what can I say It has been a busy couple months. I added more lines by the moon and a more realistic tree.

Wow... way better than the previous version :) I would suggest trying the design on a different tee color to bring it to life. I like the placement and the idea! Good luck with it.

Oooh, this is quite clever.. yes, the tree is much better than the fluffy plant that was in the previous version.
Perhaps you should draw the faces on the.. apples? balls? yourself, instead of usin' emoticons for them? Or maybe just give them a little bit more attention. A few of the faces seem rather off center compared to others.

Cool idea! The tree is vastly improved from the first version, but I would recommend reworking it even further because I think this design has potential. My main problem is that the girl is "shaded" (as in, areas of white against areas of black) while the tree is not. I think adding some "highlights" to the tree might help.

So here is the new version.
Updates:
-Detail work on the girl changing faces ect.
-Altered the style of the moon to give the impression of craters.
-Added detail to the tree using Suessical highlights to give it some texture.
-Detail work on the emoticons to make them feel more consistent.
-Moved to blue jean shirt to give a more night time feel.

Keep in mind the placement will still be that of the previous versions.

If you wanted to play with it a bit more you could give those stars a little more personality even rotate them around a bit. The tree and the girl might also look cool with touches of those white highlights. Really dig the emoticon concept. The emoticons on the ground is a great metaphor. It's a poetic commentary on our "social networked" society that always seems out of reach of true happiness.

I think it looks great! Definite improvement from the first and second versions. The only concern I have is that, though the shading of the tree is lovely, I think it may overpower the figure of the woman because it is much more detailed than the rest of the design and has different style than the rest. Perhaps adding highlights to the figure and/or softening the highlights of the tree to make it look more similar to the rest.

Here I have added the same shading to the girls clothing, while using the cel- like highlights used oh her face on her arm and leg.
I also added some highlight-chunks to the stars.

Sorry about the placement quality. Hit some issues when re-sizing. Should give you a pretty good idea how it will look though.

I like how the lamp glow giving the shading effect!
I think you should give shading on the ground and other lamps to show this effect made from the glow.

I love the moon in the BG! I would maybe suguest making the face balls maybe a little out of focus or just not so crisp? They don't seem to really blend with the amazing sketch of the girl and tree.

The amount of detail makes it look really good but there is a risk of "drowning" the important features (comparing v1 and v4).

I completely agree. Thats why I am apprehensive of doing any more shades. I am completely losing the dreamy contrast I was setting out to achieve. I'm not even quite sure I like the highlights on the girl but the common answer is do it.

I like the lights on her skirt... maybe I take the skin highlights out?

I need votes. Personally I have a feeling that V3 is a winner.

That is to say I think Version 3 Is the best this design has achieved so far.

I think having the great detail in the tree and girl are awesome but then I get so distracted by the stars and especially the lil yellow guys, maybe do apples instead of lil wal-mart smileys? I really like the idea and you got it down just change maybe to something else that will help push the idea you have!

Here is the new version. I feel like we are getting close. I have lessened the thick outlines on the faces. Pushed the stars back by killing the light. Adjusted the light on the girl.

i like it! the :E face is kinda weird, and the stroke around the smiley face is a little obvious (illustrator) but it works for some reason. Nice job.

Cool style! Maybe you make the lines around the smileys a bit thinner. And the one on the right has a bit of an assface (sorry for that). But its a great look.

This is an attempt to get the colors nailed down. The emotes have been changed so the happy face is the only one "ripe" also i gave the blue moon idea a go. What do you think is this color better for the moon?

Wow this looks great! You have definitely developed this well, looking at your past versions. And I like this colour of the moon as opposed to V5, makes it look more subtle. :)

Really nice, I checked the preview version and I would say that this is the best version except that I prefer the moon color of v3. Really good improvement..

Here is the newest version. Some of it went funky when imported into flash. anyway. Some s,mall color tweaks. Some changes to the smiley circles and the girl. Also added the template mockup.

I don't know if someone said this before but there's a big contrast between the tree plus girl and the "faces". Using a bright color for them works but they should me more elaborated in my opinion.

Wow thats a lot of votes for more work on the smileys. I feel they should be the way the war they are or it loses the message of the shirt itself.
There were levels to the concept and I feel like the more detail I add to them it will lose one of them. But if the group opinion is change it I will. Any other input?

Was thinking of putting this in the 'needs work'-corner, but when I see it on the t-shirt it seems great, I would really buy this. Nice job!

Im really glad you can still see the primary message. That is reassuring. Any other opinions? I may tweak the faces a bit more so for my own liking but are we all thinking this is about where it needs to be.

Okay here is what I believe to be the final. I have tweaked the sizes of the emotes, I have also done some changes on the girls pose and cleaned the excess anchor points that were thrown in from the original live trace.
I feel like this is the most solid version so far and i really like how it looks on the shirt. any more feedback before I send it through?
