Still a work in progress...

I kept the wall paper for now, but I am still considering getting rid of it.

I made it more subtle, and worked to make the iteme in the bubble stand out more.

The line works seems a little heavy. not in her, but in the ground below here, and some of the smaller illustrations in her thought bubble.

her hip still looks funny to me where it divets in

Danielles right, her hip looks odd.. i could also do without the skulls with wings.. i mean the one eyed monsters are awesome! but the parachute guy and the air balloon are too simple. i also like the paper planes, liek instead of drawing she could make a plane instead.. her right ear looks a bit odd as well, maybe too high up, or too far back..

My design is up for voting!

I finally think I get where the hips look strange, good call.

Thanks!

I rushed this version out a bit too much last night.

I will make the a few changes and out a new version up.

I like the progression of your design. If you just fix a few of the details, it' be cool.

OK, I get it, the magical potential of a blank piece of paper. So, I'm seeing this and I'm thinking it's pretty straight forward and I'm also thinking that something is amiss. Then I realized the subject matter, in the little girl's musings of what to draw, are stereotypically the stuff a boy might contemplate. I smiled at that and thought that maybe there should be more snakes and snails and puppy... etc. Just my interpretation of course.

I don't think the girls hip is misshapen I think it's the skirt. Minus the skirt, the hip is curving correctly into the thigh. I think if you elongate the top of the skirt over the hip and towards the waist so that it is at a right angle from the bottom hip of the skirt, it should be fine.

I think the wall paper is a good idea, (grounds the illo), if it's toned down and faded out. However, the pattern you have now may be to simplified. Something less (symmetrical daisies and dots) graphic, may be a floral pattern, would be less noticeable and still serve as a grounding device. Also, since her shirt daisies are the same as the ones on the wallpaper, it might imply a connection, (that isn't there), and as a result, mislead the viewer.

The dark, cross hatched floor draws too much attention but it's easy enough to lighten it up. Maybe just a body shadow below her, (leaving the wallpaper's bottom end to delineate the floor line), would maintain depth of field in a simpler way.

Anyway, great start, nice drawing. Cheers!

My reaction was very similar to Quister's, especially regarding the subject of her imaginings, the wallpaper, and the hatched floor.

I think her thought bubble should be more "filled", and I think the subject of her thoughts should be more gender-neutral and not stereotypical boy stuff. The theme of your design is about the potential of a blank sheet of paper, and I think having her think like a tomboy actually obscures that message.

I'd also like it if her eyes were looking up at the images above her.

Great!

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think they are all really good ones.

I like the idea of her looking up too.

I think my inner tom boy must be coming out a bit in the design, since she is drawing all the things a boy would ;)
