The basic idea is very original, not what I personallywould like (not such a zombie fan ;) ), but it is funny. Continue working on it, the colouring and so on.. I think there will be many people loving this idea if you work on it well.

Hi everybody. Today i redifine the flames behind the zomb and the woman clothes. Have a question. Which color do you prefer for the woman hair? Blu electric?
|
|
ibeenthere on Jul 24 '10
lol!!! great idea!!!
i think the color scheme should be a close one...meaning, if all the colors are warm, then keep the hair with something warm...and use the skin colors with a bit colder tones to contrass the wormth....can't wait for the next version! Please score my design: African Mirage and if you have the time, tell me what you think about the final version before submitting of: Lets settle this! :) |
|
Gabriele Nanni on Jul 24 '10
Thank's ibeen for the advices about the colors!
|

brenrasmussen on Jul 24 '10
yea use a warm color pallete, wow this is going to look pretty sweet when you're done!
|
|
Mrcoffeebean on Jul 24 '10
Yeah, I want see details.
Please comment my design on critique. |
|
hahahah sweet idea! I'm not a fan of zombie things usually but I think this could really work. I agree that colors should stay warm for now. I'm not entirely sure 'gone with the zomb' is the best title - maybe something a tad smoother, like 'gone with the dead', or some such? But that's a minor niggle. I'm really looking forward to seeing this develop, I think that if you do it in a detailed style you seem to be going towards it might really come out amazing.
|
|
jumppuppyjump on Jul 24 '10
Lol... I just have a soft spot for pop culture pieces AND zombie art and combining these two, well, you had me at 'zomb'. That being said, comment wise, i LOVE the paintey thing you've got going there, a degree of verisimilitude is always important in a tribute piece but the zomb. I need more face and a slobbery iwannaeatchoo expression. Title wise, why not 'zomb with the wind'? It won't be to phonetically dissimilar that way.
|

Gabriele Nanni on Jul 25 '10
Thanks celandinestern and jumppuppyjump for all the advices! They are very important for me

New version of Gone with the Zomb (or "Gone with the Dead"). Today i redifine the zombie clothes, the woman face (dont look at hair' colour, is temporary!) and i put a Michael Jackson Thriller tattoo on the woman's shoulder! ;)
|
|
Gabriele Nanni on Jul 26 '10
Ah, another thing: onother idea is to draw a centipede which exit from the mouth of the zomb. What do you think?
|
|
brenrasmussen on Jul 26 '10
I think prolly no on the centepede personally ha but you could try it, haha the tatoo is a good addition, its getting their man slowly but surly cant wait for it to be finished!

|
matt attack on Jul 26 '10
hey cool, i think you need to get rid of the white. and are those little zombies down the bottom? keep working on it, should be great!
|
|
Disgruntled_Pacifist on Jul 26 '10
Okay, this is definately one to watch! Exceptionally original which is saying a lot considering it's a zombie theme.
Title = Gone With the Dead I think works best. The sillouettes of the people at the bottom is pretty cool. Not sure if I'm liking the tatoo though, I think it takes away from the vintage feel of the poster, also I say no to the centepede. I looks kind of faded at the moment and unfinished so I'll keep an eye on it and see how it comes along. BTW, too homeruns from me cause I'm a Gone with the Wind fan too! |
|
Gabriele Nanni on Jul 27 '10
Thank you all! I'm drawing Gone with the Dead (definetely choose the title!) with a Wacom graphic table. Yeah, the draw is unfinished: today i try to define the bottom zombies

Another day for the zomb.. :) Today i made the woman's hair (warm colour like suggest) and start working on the zomb face (i made the bags under the eyes, and i dont put a centipede exit from the mouth). Some question to all of us: do you like the womans hair? And i think to put a piercing on here nose: what do you think?

its a nice concept, but i agree that everything should b darker, right now its very pale and faded, making it darker will bring out some details (i know its a WIP, but im just saying), it'll look alot better once u finish polishing all the details of the drawing.
if u have time can u help me out? http://www.threadless.com/submission/287853/portrait_of_a_princess |

The bottom half is stellar. The two main figures could use a little refining, mostly the zombie. Just little things like a little more time on the right hand. You have a solid idea and it is looking really good.

Coming along nicely. With the painterly style the hair on the zombie looks hard. Perhaps soften the line or slightly feather the edge. Not a big deal though.

It's really amazing how you got to this point!
I can't really critique your t-shirt because I don't understand how are you using only 8 colors in this!(you critique my design before, I'm having some trouble with the color restrictions). Even tough I think the main characters need a little more detail! |
|
Gabriele Nanni on Aug 04 '10
Actually are more than 8 colours (10-11 colours), but it's the last problem :) First i draw all the scene, at the end of all i redifine reducing at 8 colours

Gone with the Zomb in movie-poster version. Winner of Ten Zombies Award (i will make a Oscar Award looks like a Zombi Award...). Now i have a question for you about the main caracters: do you like the words THE ZOMBIE, THE WOMAN and A GREAT AMOUNT of ZOMBIES or prefer something like THE WAITER, THE CHIEF WOMAN and A GREAT AMOUNT of ZOMBIES?
|
|
afghan jones on Aug 09 '10
Getting better each time. Could the Zombi Award just be the gold Oscar with outstretched arms in the classic zombie pose? Or even the thriller pose? Organ-ized V1 up for critique

Exactly! The Zombi Award will be like the gold oscar with a Trhiller pose!

i think you should work it out so there won't be a frame...even though it's suppose to be like a movie poster, it's just feels wrong on the tee... also, lose the white fills... other then that, the illustration is amazingly done! fix those things and its a 5 from me for sure:) please Score and comment on my Threadless loves comic design:Comic-Cong:) Thanks! |

Man the Zombie Oscar could be a whole killer T-shirt in itself, really funny. It's coming along nicely. I'd agree with ibeenthere and maybe loose the sharp edge boarder & the main. Your main zombie may need work, add a moustache and give the girl longer hair.

A lot of detail going on here and that's nice but i don't like the way it cuts off with a frame. Can't you bleed it around the whole T instead?
Oh, I'd really appreciate it if you could pop by to score Mr. Spock and tell me what you think about Light and Flight AND It's Peaceful Up Here. THanks! |

Good to see it on a shirt. I think you need to work on the colors a bit. The poster art looks very low contrast, but you have on a dark color, which does not work well.

Yeah... Try to use some analogue colors on the most, and maybe just one detail on complementar color.
Helps if you choose another color for the shirt, also |

really nice!=)
it evolved a lot, well done :) my suggestions would be to try to remove the frame, put yellow too inside the letters, and try maybe this tshirt on black...but thats really cool :) if you have time feel free to help and comment on my 10yth version :)http://www.threadless.com/critique/73094/The_Wish_Tree |

Thanks to all for the advice!
Only a thing: a lot of you speak about the "frame". But, what is the "frame"?! (sorry, i'm italian and i dont understand all words :) |

tifferlee on Aug 14 '10
They mean it looks like a square. To fix that, you could stretch it to the edges of the shirt. I think it looks great if you do that.

New version of "Gone with the Zomb": changing the color behind in all the poster. Like it? It remain to redifine some little particulars, but i think this will be the final version

Great illustration i really like how you kept to the spirit of a movie poster. I think some of the colors chosen are a liitle to muted. Maybe just a tad more saturation. Besides that I would submit. just a thought.

Great illustration. I think it needs more contrast in the two characters in the foreground.
