This is a WIP of my entry for Bortwein's RAW Community Challenge, incorporating my 4 randomly generated Threadless Cliche elements:

Octopus
Robot
Space
Cute Monster

I thought I'd make the design as random as possible, so I've turned them into scoops of ice cream as you can see.

Thinking about expanding the design to include price tags etc. so it's like an advert on the side of an ice cream van - what do you think?

It's looking good already! Space and Octopus are looking strongest at the moment. Robot could use a little something, maybe just some brighter color details inside the dome. I think Cute Monster needs a little more character to stand out. Overall the style is very crisp and clean. The price tags and such might pull the design together more but don't put too much stuff in there. (Ice cream is totally a Threadless cliche too)

Thanks Morkki, very useful suggestions. I know the ice cream is cliche too - maybe with price labels the whole thing will look like a list t-shirt too - another cliche! :)

Added some colour to the robot, and cute monster. Monster also made to look furry and the rocket on the space scoop has a jet flame too.

i like the idea, and it is clear you were aiming for a flat pop feel!

Something about the current cones do not work for me. Have you tried the old school cake style cones?

Better example of the cone.

I like the idea, maybe play with the placement of the cones a bit, seems a little overwhelming the way you have them arranged right now.

could you add an element of interaction between all of the items? Like a squiggle of caramel that goes behind or in front of them to sort of tie them together. Or a squiggle made from a bunch of Sprinkles that overlap and go behind the elements and act as a tie between the elements.

smaller on the tee i'd say. give some negative space between the edges of the tee and the design. i'd incorporate more use of the highlights: body of the ocotpus, top of the orange monster, etc.

I feel like the space Ice Cream needs something more. A planet or Moon? Also how many colors have you used so far? Do you have room to add a Red and make the Space Ship look more like a Cherry on Top?

Up to 8 colours now, added the detail to the space cone as shown and I think the placement is better.

the robot cone, if you look at it, the glass is swallowed by the cone behind it...and it's left arm is hard to see cause it's almost exactly at the same curve as the cone behind...
so maybe lower the white highlight on the glass a bit so it will cover the cone, and change the arm's angle a little bit so it will go over the cone...

the overlap on the robot looks odd. Perhaps swap the robot with the space.

The added planet really helps the space one. Maybe add one more small planet (just a circle) to it near the bottom left of the scene.

Just wondering if the space scoop would be better with a UFO wafer than the rocket?

what is instead of the rocket it was a red Saucer style UFO?

Also the alignment of the design feel shifted to the right of center in the shirt. It's probably because the Robots arm extends further out than the monster's arm to when the arms look the same distance from the edge of the shirt, the main body of art is slightly to the shorter arm side. In short, just move it to the left but a few clicks.

Bortwein - I'm thinking along the same lines - new version coming soon.

I think it's much better with the saucer rather than the rocket, but I've mocked up versions with and without a little green man driver - not sure if it is too much detail for the balance of the design?

Any thoughts?

i think it's better without the green man, to much details on one hand, and also because the space ice cream talks about space and mystery, and not about alians...:)
