Hi, it's been a while ! I was pretty busy, but finally, i found time to make another design :)



Some told me that i should make something again in the spirit of "in umbrella we trust" design...so here it is !

I think the "hands across the globe" idea lacks connection with the rest of the design.

i have a question: is it obvious that the guy's brain is an open cage where the dove is set free?

I'll for sure changed the globe hands replacing them by the peace hands ^^

V2 changes:

So i changed the globe, putting symbolic peace hands which represent the continents, populations. I made also strokes to fill in the globe, subtle, but i think it's better.

I also added a better musical note /speech bubble (in the design's mood) and changed the colors o the cage, so that's even more a part of the brain's character.



i am thinking about the concept, maybe i'll add depth, but i clearly listen to all your suggestions, so don't hesitate!

hmm earth looks a little desert-y. maybe put some of that blue in for water!It just needs a little more variations in color.

First thanks a lot for all the comment in v3!

So, major changes right now, i think i'm almost ready to sub, but i first want to read your feedbacks. I added the dove bubble, to express hte concept differently than in v3. Much more impacting IMO, and much more interesting to fit it the tee shirt.

@toshiomagic: thanks a lot for your comment. Hmmm, when you say unbalanced, you speak about the the design itself, or the design on the tee shirt (which for me is way better right now). And don't you think the design is more interesting in concept than in v3 ?



@mfiske: well, i used Illustrator CS3, but first drew a sketch and scanned it ;)

of course, i'll check your designs asap; as always ;)

Samurhino Dusk V.4

for me, the hard corners of the text clash with the sketchy style of the rest of the illustration, even with a sketchy background(which you def need to keep). The earlier versions of the music note had the actual sketch lines blending nicely with the shape of the note. And the text is lightly distressed, unlike the rest of the design.



The big word funnel kind of makes the design look awkward to me. If you want to keep it, I would change it to a cloud style word bubble instead of the funnel you've got goin on now.



I see the words "piece of mind" immediately when i look at the shirt. Perhaps you could just make the music note a peace symbol. Or make the music note a peace symbol and the word bubble the silhouette of a brain or a head.



And I would also open the door to the bird cage :)



I hope that helped.

V5 changes

Yeah! i'm pretty happy with this evolution.

The cage is now opened, i mean clearly (it was not so obvious earlier)

The cage is redrawed a little, to be lighter (colors, lightning)

The Dove bubble/cloud/sky is now with a funnier shape, and with a sketchy style font, to be in harmony with the rest (it was distressed font, and too rough finally in previous version, even if i liked it)

@danitp: well, that's a technical print question, if it's possible to print a piece on the top of the back, so htat the bubble continue, if not, like the tee template i did, the design will finished at the sewing (stitching).

i feel like there should be a peace symbol somewhere on here. like a constellation. ..

I think that it would be nice if some of the blue was brought into the oceans so that the world seems more heavy. Right now the earth feels too light

@ empiricist: well, i wanted in fact the earth to be very light, to put emphasis on the rest, but maybe you are right, i've got an idea to keep it light, adding blue in oceans, so wait and sea (uhuhuh) ;)

The hand peace, the earth full of peace hands, the dove, i think it's already clear enough :)

Hi, here is V6!



The major change is the globe, as suggested, which is now filled with blue seas and oceans, and i made some changes to make it even more realistic in continents :)

i fixed some minor stuffs.

Right now, the print finished on the sewing.



do you have suggestions, what do U think?

yeah, the dove is now seen better, with a better outline (and i got rid of the musical notes which were not interesting here) and a little shadow sketched like the rest of the illo.



I also added at the top of the cage the classical circle to hang the birdcages, it's tiny because i still want to be obvious that the cage is the character head skull...

nice illustration,reminds me of a lego man hehe. i really like the text on the shoulder and the soft colour scheme.Caged/open cage bird designs pop up quite frequently on threadless but yours isnt dominated by that idea,really nice and refreshing image. I cant see any possible improvements. I would say try some different tee colours but the white works perfectly.i say submit!

i like this! I'd go with a more secondary palette though - the blue and red seem to stand out against the uniqueness of the design.



try experimenting with different colors on those parts and keep up the good work!

So i will try other colors, but indeed, about the tee background, it pops up pretty good on white.



About the blue, it's the color of liberty (at least in french culture), that's why it is important...but i could try at least another color than red and different blue...well, let's try :)

i changed the color of clothes, the red is now more vivid, less dark, than the previous version. what do you think? (the previous was a little sad, i think). thanks to "electric method" comment ;) so, what red you prefer v7 or v8?



i fixed some sketchy shadows on the character, especially the arms, shoes...

and 2-3 more things like stars colors etc.



i wanted the presentation to be more impactant as it's time to sub i guess, so the tee template is now popping better i think.

I think it would be a stronger piece without the earth element... Or maybe just making the earth smaller so not to compete attention with the cage-boy element...
