I like the concept. To me, the halftoney dots kind of distract from the sketchy style, though. Also, it occurs to me that maybe the seacow should see manatees underwater instead of a fish?
I like version 1, but I agree manatees would be more funny! Also, I'm not a fan of the halftone look, but is there any way some of the blue of the shirt could show through and web shoes, so the whole design doesn't look like a sticker? I always like to let the color of the tee "work with" the design somehow...Also, how about a lighter blue? I personally like more subtle colors of shirts...but that's me...
i thought that too mjoo, but i had a hard time drawing dugongs (kind of like a southern manatee), they came out looking like amanda vandstone without hair -- which, come to think of it, is what dugongs/manatees look like! I went with the fish because it didnt take over the design the way the dugong did, and looked better on the tee shape-wise. However, I do think the world could use more manatees/dugongs.
The dots are how the hand drawn picture scanned (go figure, I think i need a better scanner). I could try digitally changing it but my prowess with digital media is a bit hit & miss.
I would actually buy a shirt with all those animals on it, Keaton Kohl. If it were drawn nicely. Most of the time the artwork is much, much more important than the concept.
Any other comments that would be helpful plz go ahead.
I changed the colour from the first one i subbed and added the fish that was originally in the seahorse sketch.
I will post some closeups.
