I think you're the most perfectionist designers here, your designs are so well finished. So I can't criticicize this. I like that you seem to have changed a bit your direction, specially the colors, form what I've seen from you, you tend to use dark colors. Anyways, this would make a good shirt and I will 5$ right away.

PS. Who the hell checked "needs work"? it's really annoing.

This is really cool.
Personally I am not a fan of the colours, I would prefer to see colours that work more closely together. Perhaps all shades of green to yellow or purple to magenta? Just a suggestions.
You could also add a flying car with bat or bird wings?

This is a little out of your element and I LOVE IT.

The only thing I could say is that the rear frog leg does not really seem to be attached to the car, which I think is from the angle of the leg. Also, the shading on the front (stage) left frog leg seems a little odd... too much, I think, to be explained.

I kind of like version 1 better. The tree leaves and coloring of the bus seem to confuse the hierarchy. The colors are a little unusual. You might try a dash of orange somewhere to make a more triadic scheme.

Very cool though, I would really consider buying either version.

I actually like BOTH versions equally - I don't see any reasons for no submitting either one.

Version two feels more complete to me. This is sweet Leon. Awesome yet again.

As a long stand VW junkie, I LOVE this! The colours I'm not quite feeling, just yet. Once those are ready, I would LOVE to have one of these. Have you thought about trying to incorporate the traditional VW colours? Orange, but trying to find a toned down orange. Less pylone, and more mellow sherbet. The teal is also another traditional VW colour, especially for the vans.

Funny... my dad once had an orange VW van, and a teal (well, jade green) bug.

the second version is definitely better. The only weird thing to me is that if you used halftones, it seems like something isn't quite right when they're only used in one small area.

wow! i really like this, the colors are spot on. however, i really really liked the colors you used in version one. i think the vw van looks better just being the color of the shirt.

but both those pink and grey color schemes are hot.

i think i like how the tree is leafless, like in version one also. i like the minimal use of colors there.

hmm, you might be right about the shirt coloured van julia, but might it not make the whole right side a bit weightless? i think i want to keep the leaves too for the same reason, just to add some bulk at the top.

oh and the halftone on the frog legs was more than just shading. it helps the impression of goosebumpy amphibian skin.

Sonmi, said what I was trying to say. I love the tire addition, but I still like the way the V1 looks on the shirt. I think I need to see this on a shirt to really judge it. This is a great improvement on the last one though. The tree feels better integrated and there's some good movement.

I'd like to see it on an orange shirt.

i feel like the blue of the sky and the blue windows on the vw vans are enough to weigh down the top right side. perhaps a bit more blue sky could even be added to the right to give it more weight... i guess i just really like how the shirt color makes the other van pop out from the sky.

but the version with the van is fine, too!

No, I wouldn't I like the grey the best. No pink, please! Also, I like the cooling tower a lot, I think it give the whole image more balance.

The orange one is great but it's a bit hard to wear. :s The grey in V6 is nice also.

Wait, I just realized... the power plant looked a little off, and I figured out why: Everything in the background is more 2-d, but with the highlights, the smokestack pops out more.

I love how the back leg of the frog/bug is now looking like it's attached.
I'm not loving the powerplant stack. I find that my eye keeps being drawn away from the focus of the funky VWs. The smoke stack seems to be very heavy in perceptual weight (hehe...sounds pretentious).
I like the tree with the leaves on it.
Generally, I'm liking the colours in the image. The pale pink and grey shirts are not doing it for me.
The bright orange shirt was a bit offensive to the eye. It would dissuade me from purchasing. Although, I did like the idea of having elements of the orange in the design. I'm not too sure of the printing limitations for Threadless, or how many colours can be used (although I am noticing a 5 colour maximum trend). If an orange of the same value as the green could be used, that might be interesting. I'm guessing that you don't want too many colours as it might distract from the design.
I love this design, and would love to have a shirt with it (heck, even get one for my dad, as he's a VW mechanic).
I've put this one under my "watch" thing, so I can't wait to see how it does!

i don't think "watching" this one is going to help you sorry. I didn't like the thumbnail i originally submitted and don't see any way to change it so i've just submitted the design independantly from this blog.

I like it, but fwiw,Volkswagen's very persnickety about protecting their rights to images of all their past and present vehicles, so it's unlikely to get printed...

i love the car thats turned into a frog very ingenious!!! and very well done. it might be funny to have the tire have a face, like a rabid tire :)

i have only one tiny suggestion, the tree should be somewhat highlighted, everything but the tree and tire are, but the tire looks good ( why is there a tire is the cars dont have tires?) .
but great idea, and great artwork.
